what is the name of the best techno/trance you ever heard

Wow. Where to start?

I'll just list out a couple artists and my favorite songs by them.

First up: Warp Brothers. Their best songs (IMHO) are Blast The Speakers, and Feel Like God

Second: DJ Dean. My favorite is BallaNation. Most of those mixes are good.

Third: DJ Tiesto. He's got a lot of good stuff out, but I'd suggest Obsession, and Barbers Adagio for Strings. Whatever you do, stay away from Sandstorm!

Fourth: Look for the Paul Van Dyk remix of U2's Elevation. It's one of my favorite electronic songs.

Hope that's a few really good ones, it was hard to pick out of my 6 day trance list which I live with on shuffle...

ANYTHING from Tiesto (he is no longer "DJ Tiesto"), Armin van Buuren, or Paul van Dyk. They are the best in the biz at the moment and I don't see anyone surpassing them.

Personally I also enjoy Kosheen (Resist) and Tiesto's In Search of Sunrise series. His Magik isn't that bad either, but NOTHING can beat his live concert mixes.

As far as others, Louie Devito is pretty cool.
He just makes mixes of other's songs though:

That was my first Louie Devito CD, and still among my favorites.

Scooter as well is up there with my personl choices, with the song "(Maria) I like It Loud" being my favorite, followed closely by "Ramp! The Logical Song", "Hello (Good To Be Back)" and "Fire".

Our theme for last year was TRANCE (Technology Revoloutionizing A New Complex Era) and played endless hours of Techno from my iPod in our HOF display (sorry team 151 and 47 we tried to keep it down to a reasonable level).

.....200 songs.... LOL. 90% of the music on my iPod is techno or trance.

Yeah.. like Pavan, probably 80 or 90% of the music on my Zen is techno/trance/speedcore.

Typical mainstream trance suggestions are Paul van Dyk (Nothing But You is my favorite, but most of his others are good too) and Tiesto (I like Traffic or He's a Pirate). Check out Pendulum if you want a bit of a more faster, pounding type thing. Check out the Bonkers CDs if you want a more bouncy hardcore-type feel (songs like Go Berzerk or Enraptured Soulz). One of my favorite songs right now is Rave Phenomenon. Finally, take a look at VA's long mixes (like "VA Hardcore Trance" or something like that), they usually have some good stuff in them.
