Re: Kettering Kickoff FILLS with 36 Teams

Kettering Kickoff was a great success. We enjoyed putting it on and hope everybody had fun. If anybody would like to comment on the event we can use that information to make it better next year. We are already developing new ideas on the lay out and going to work on more displays for the kids to see.

Re: Kettering Kickoff FILLS with 36 Teams

Wow, that was really a spectacular event. Some of the matches rivaled IRI and the Championships in intensity. Thanks a bunch to both 67 and 1243, you guys were spectacular partners and I was glad to be working along side such great teams. Congratulations to 47, 33, and 379, it was a lot of fun playing against such a powerful alliance and the matches we had were some of the most fun I've had the pleasure of driving in. You guys definitely deserve your win.

Thank you to all the teams and volunteers who worked so hard to make this competition the success it was. I was a little worried when I saw the floor plan that showed the batteries had to be kept in a separate location, but really that little storage area we had to put them in was a rather good place for them. Also the pits seemed like they were pretty open and having the practice carpet set up proved useful, and gave us a good place to set up our mobile light.

Re: Kettering Kickoff FILLS with 36 Teams

WOW, it was an excellent competition as usual. Kettering puts on a wonderful competition and this year was no different. I was greatly impressed with how good all the teams played.

We were absolutely shocked that everyone passed on 469 and to get a chance to play with our WMR winning partners was quite sweet. I was also amazed when we picked team 815. They played excellently and were a great asset to our alliance. Our alliance played well together and we almost had them.

Congratulations to 47, 33, 379, you guys played masterfully. I am always amazed by what kinds of strategies that 47 and 33 manage to come up with and today was no different. There is no shame in losing to you guys.

This is a different kind of congratulations, it goes to a team near and dear to my heart, team 2137 the Oxford Robocats. This year we helped found their team and we helped them get secure in FIRST. They attended our strategy sessions and we had mentors and students helping them all throughout the year. During the season they built a ramp robot but struggled to get it to work effectively. For Kettering Kickoff they redesigned their robot and became a hanger, and they scored their very first tube in their second match. The look on the student's and mentor's faces reminded me why I love FIRST, they had built something with their own hands and watched it succeed.

Re: Kettering Kickoff FILLS with 36 Teams

congrats to 47,33 and 379.thanks for keeping our record intack of only losing to event champions. thanks to 67 and 1243.oh, so close. a spoiler taken off or a lift a half inch higher.
a little shout out to "BOB", some of the best defensive driving i have seen since championships.
as for the event itself. perfect. don't change a thing. the number of teams, the layout. you nailed it. make it an invitational but don't make it any bigger. thanks to the young lady setting the teams up. you kept things moving and i was happy to get out of the event at a reasonable time. i just hope you had time to enjoy the event.
wish we could have double keepered . one more chance. see you at ARC.

Re: Kettering Kickoff FILLS with 36 Teams

Team 85 would like to express its thanks to all of those who gave of their time, energy and effort in staffing the Kettering Kick-Off, and to all of the teams who participated. The BOB team had an awesome time!!! What a great event to bring freshman to, helping them to experience what FIRST is all about. Thanks for the shout out from 910, will pass the compliment on to our drive team.
We are honored to have been awarded the Safety Award and regret not being able to personally accept it. We apologize for any awkward moments this may have caused, Team 85 believes in the importance of staying for the whole, not just in part, but had to deal with time limitations, and we had pushed it to the very max.

Re: Kettering Kickoff FILLS with 36 Teams

This was such a great event. The teams there were all top-notch, which led to some of the most intense semis and finals I've ever seen. Congrats to 47/33/379 as well as 494/469/815, two amazing alliances that both deserved the title. I'd also like to extend a shoutout to the 67/910/1243 alliance, you guys were unbelievable scorers who were, in my opinion, the dream alliance.

One last shoutout, to the 910 coach who made the comment to me about GP after we were eliminated (if he's on CD he'll know what I'm referring to). It lessened the sting of the loss substantially to know personally that the teams that were going on were excellent, fair people. Can't wait to see you guys score that double keeper at ARC
