Discovery Channel Is Seeking People For Cool New Show
I received the following e-mail that I thought my interest some of you. I have permission to reproduce it here. I don't know if this is open to students or just adults. I am not affiliated with the casting people nor with Discovery Channel in any way; I am just passing along the info.
Quote:
Hello,
My name is Trizonna McClendon and I'm working on a new program for the
Discovery Channel. We are looking for people from a variety of career
fields who would be interested in being a team member on the new show,
"Super Rubes".
We're looking for anyone who is involved in engineering/building:
architects, engineers, scientists, pyro-technicians, or art
directors/designers, etc. We would also like to meet any professors
or hobbyists who are simply passionate about these topics. We don't
need an expert in every area, just someone who loves to design and build.
"Super Rubes" is a one-hour series that follows a band of talented
creators as they design, build, and set off massive Chain Reaction
Machines (a.k.a. giant Rube Goldberg Machines) in front of a cheering
crowd. The point of a Chain Reaction Machine is to do something very
simple, like turn on a light bulb, using as many steps as possible.
This is an opportunity for designers/engineers/builders/etc. to let
their creative hair down and have some serious fun building a giant
Rube Goldberg Machine. Our team will take on impossible challenges
(i.e. "can you crack an egg with a human hair") in a race against the
clock.
We are looking for individuals to make into a team - a team of people
who can work together to design, build and implement crazy, visually
stunning, creative, out-of-the-box Chain Reaction Machines. The team
should be a mix of a skills, a mix of personality types, and have a
playful, funny camaraderie—so if there are existing teams out there,
all the better, or if couples/triples have worked together and want to
present themselves as the start of a team—we are open to that too.
I'm hoping you can forward my email address to anyone who might be
interested in this cool new show. Perhaps you have an e-mail list you
could let know about us? I would truly appreciate any help spreading
the word about our search.
Please reply with any questions. Thanks for your time.
Best,
--
