418er spotted at Maker Faire Austin?

As I was combing through my news feeds today, I noticed that Make: had stuck up pictures from its Maker Faire event going on right now in Austin.

This wouldn't normally be postworthy, except that I noticed the first photo contained someone in a very purple, very LASA Robotics, polo shirt.

FIRSTers are everywhere, it seems...

Thank you for noticing, Billfred. Those are 2 of our new student members this year. This is our last weekend before the Capitol BEST competition in our BEST hub and today was the final test drive. It is called 'Mall Day' because typically, the test drive takes place in a mall to bring attention to robotics and BEST. This year, Maker Faire was at our Travis County fairgrounds on the same Saturday and our hub director, Greg Young, worked to get 'Mall Day' transferred to Maker Faire. It was a perfect setting and an opportunity for all of the teams to spend time at the booths and enjoy themselves. This final test drive consists of testing the robots on the full field. There are other things that take place but basically, the teams strive to have a good drivable robot in time for this. Our team is 55 students strong this fall. 18 attended the test drive at Maker Faire.
