FIRST DARPA Team?

What do you think about some FIRST teams pooling their resources and entering the next DARPA event? What teams would you pick to combine to make an UBER FIRST team to design and build the car.

Just for thought.....

We used to design and build full sized electric vehicles that could do speeds of 100 mph! It was a 1200amp 144volt DC system. It used a DC Raptor 1200 and twin 9 inch Advance DC motors. at 85 hp peak each! We used a 1985 Pontiac Fiero for the chassis and that sucker peeled out in third gear! The car was built for speed and handling not range but it did get 7o miles on a charge, we had three sets of 12 batteries. Optima Yellow tops! If any boddy want to team up with us we got the car stuff down. We could be the first electric powered autonomous car! Any takers?
here are some of the cars we built

I saw the Martians entry at Kettering Kickoff.
I don't know if they made it to the event.

Re: FIRST DARPA Team?

The Martian Mentors had a site visit, but did not make the semifinals.

Also, see the Grand FIRST Team forum on chiefdelphi so you can read about an attempted entry for the original challenge.

Re: FIRST DARPA Team?

We're in a different state, but I'm sure there's interest. We (114) have actually acquired an old bug, and we plan to make it either remote controlled or autonomous as well as electric later this year.

Re: FIRST DARPA Team?

I think in theory this is awesome, there is no doubt that the FIRST community has the resources to at least make a respectable showing. However I am not sure that it is feasible because of the distribution of teams across the country. It would just not be practical to try to form a team this way.
