Road Trip
My dad and I are driving down to Florida but we're not going to be in a hurry, so I'm wondering if there are any good things to see/do on the way there. Please post any ideas!
We're taking I-77 from Akron, OH to I-95, then I-95 to Titusville, FL. Leaving next Friday. We are already planning on touring NASA @ Kennedy when we get down there. Last edited by Pat McCarthy : 08-12-2007 at 20:21. Reason: Added timeframe |

Re: Road Trip
Yo can always stop in Delaware from 1-95, but you will know all about stopping in DE once you get here became I-95 in DE is experiencing lane expansion 24 hours a day so its a stand still from the start of the state to the end. Good luck bring some thing to drink and read and enjoy our state tree, the road cone.

That's the route I'm taking, sounds like it's a good thing I won't be near Delaware then... |

Re: Road Trip
Hey, you're passing through Colatown!
The leg through South Carolina is largely uneventful, particularly since your route doesn't take you through South of the Border. Experience indicates that the cheap gas is usually between Charlotte and Columbia. Columbia's a pretty nice place to stop for a stretch (try searching CD for information on the 2004-2007 Palmetto Regionals), and Charleston is worth spending a full day in if you're willing to deviate from the route by about an hour. |

Re: Road Trip
not a place that everybody would like to visit, but if i was to drive down to Florida I would want to drive the tail of the Dragon, 318 curves in 11 miles

Re: Road Trip
Hmm, you aren't going through my neck of the woods in Ohio, but besides the stadiums and the E9th District, there's really not much. Although a slight veer northern onto I-480 would bring you straight through here. Not worth wasting too much excess time on, though.
Anyhoo, hope your trip will be fun and eventful! ![]() Last edited by synth3tk : 08-12-2007 at 23:42. Reason: bad link |

Re: Road Trip
I second Vince's post.
If you are anywhere near Deal's Gap you have got to run the Dragon. It's on the KN/NC boarder. I've ridden it 9 times in the last 7 years Go to tailofthedragon.com. Also, if you go through on a weekend you will get your picture (aka car's) taken by one of the four (or all four) photographers that hang out there. Check out killboy.com. Kennedy Space Center is great. Too bad you won't be able to see a shuttle launch Unless they postpone it again. |
