Picture, offical animation error
![]() These images show the robot, In the opponents home stretch <G36> above the 6 feet overpass, this is a clear violation of G36 which leads me to question the validity of the actions in the animation, or the rule G36 themsleves. Heres another pic ![]() |

This is a big issue being discussed on the forums right now, and these are the first stills I see of this happening in the animation. I think we should wait 'till after team update 1 because at this point many things this year are unclear.

Re: Picture, offical animation error
the animation probably isnt an exact representation of the game
plus alot of this game will be up to the ref to decide that is why they have to go through training |

so then can we go back and throw the ball off the rack and this would mean ur not on the opponents home stretch...this would mean that you have to pass the opponents lane and you wouldn't exactly go back just turn around... this is confusing

Re: Picture, offical animation error
Its kind of confusing as to why they would show us that in an animation that animats a mock match! Anyone find out any new information about this?

Re: Picture, offical animation error
I wouldn't doubt that <G36> will be refined in an upcoming team update.
As it is, there is no real way to get your alliance's trackball out of the overpass on the other alliance's side of the field with the six foot rule in place. I'd guess that they would probably allow you to extend above six feet if you are going to initially remove the trackball. |

Re: Picture, offical animation error
A lot of people had said to use another ball to get it down, but that seeems kind of impossible in the Auto mode.

Re: Picture, offical animation error
yea, in fact there is a way of getting the ball down, the rule states that you cant be over 6 feet in the home stretch, but the trick is that the home stretch is only the quadrant containing the opposing finish line and the opposing alliance station. so if you were in the opposite quadrant you could indeed "push" your trackball over the rack but it would have to be from the other side, very carefully of course

Re: Picture, offical animation error
I believe that other people have mentioned (at least in our team discussions) that it is possible to lift the ball from the area of the field directly past the opposing alliance's home stretch as long as the plane of the home stretch is not broken. This would not be extending the robot past 6 feet in the home stretch or result in a penalty for crossing a line in a clockwise direction.

Re: Picture, offical animation error
i have said this in other threads, so ill just copy and paste( hope it clears up a few things)
yea i was wondering this too, but worst comes to worst and the rule is correct, then u can just knock off the trackball from underneath since there is no plexiglass panel preventing it from being knocked off. This method could also be used to knock off your own trackballs during the hybrid period. It saves time becasue it does not require an arm or claw to extend up there and knock it off, all that u have to do would be attach an extending rod (piston) on top of ur bot and hit the trackball at an angle to knock it off. People may say however that this may interfere with the rules saying that it doesnt count if u pass the line before knocking it down. Well, the most u would go would be rite on the line, and technically, it cant be counted as u passed it because the ENTIRE robot has not passed the line as regulated and stated by the manual. This is what happens when u read the manual like 50 times. |

Re: Picture, offical animation error
You know, im not talking about how strategy will be affected by this rule, im just pointing out that the game animation breaks this rule, so maybe it will be changed.

Re: Picture, offical animation error
I just watched the animation video. The red ball was removed, from the opponents home stretch rack, during the autonomous mode. Does that make a difference?

Re: Picture, offical animation error
Im just checking the video now, for 1 its Hybrid mode, for 2 it doesnt make a difference but im pretty shure it happened in tele operated mode

Quote:
It is in hybrid mode rather than teleoperated but there are no exceptions of rule <G36> concerning hybrid mode. I think there should be because otherwise its almost impossible to get the opposite ball down for the 8 points in hybrid. thank you for pointing that out. |

Re: Picture, offical animation error
It's implied that it happens again during teleoperated mode. I've discussed this in some detail over here: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...6&postcount=71
