Tribute to the Human Player!

Since there is no human player this year, I was inspired to start this thread. I know you've all tried it! I want to know all the different ways people have successfully hurdled their track-ball. The restrictions are that only a single person can do the deed, using only your human facilities.

I miss arguing over the best way to throw an innertube! Backhand frisbee, forehand gripping from the inside, hammer throws, etc. Remember the days of 2004's basketball shot vs soccer throw?

How many different ways can YOU hurdle?

I actually haven't been able to do it yet. I can't even pick up the ball without cheating and sticking a finger in the zipper cover...

First attempt will be this afternoon: A two handed jumpshot
Second attempt: 720, behind the back, through the legs alley-oop off the bounce reverse...

Re: Tribute to the Human Player!

There is a human player this year, yet he/she got a promotion and with a promotion comes a new job title and new (sometimes more complicated)responsibilities. She/He is now the only person allowed to interact with the robot before teleoperated period and has more of a chance to reliably effect the outcome of a close-scoring match.

Re: Tribute to the Human Player!

We've had a mentor and a soccer player try to kick the track ball 6.5 feet from the ground. (The soccer player's shot went significantly higher and both were rubbing their feet afterwards.)

Re: Tribute to the Human Player!

A basketball toss works, as does a sufficiently energetic flat-palm volleyball serve. I didn't see anyone on our team try a drop kick.

Re: Tribute to the Human Player!

I sprained my wrist, so all I had was my feet.
Tried a soccer kick, well, a punt but without picking up the ball first.
It went about 5 feet in the air, and I had very sore toes.

Re: Tribute to the Human Player!

Kudos to the first post that references someone pulling an Air Jordan-style dunk.

Also, as a human player last year I scored three ringers at the Boston Regional just by tossing them onto the rack... but I don't mean to grandstand... it was a contract year...
