Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?
What is this "schedule" of which you speak, lol.
As far as progress goes compared to last year, I would rate us ahead, given that we didn't have a chassis till the middle of week 4, let alone a drivable one. However, we've been designing since kick-off and we have basically decided upon drivetrain, but since the base of the robot hasn't been decided on, we can't build it. Our actuator is a different story, we've gone through at least 40 iterations total, and if you don't keep up, you'll miss at least 3, lol. Hopes though are for design to be completed by the end of the week and building of the chassis to begin. If we accomplish it, it will be the greatest speed in which we've designed in the history of our team. Programming is a different story, we're working on some new ideas right now that i'll just leave up to your imaginations. But I will say that if we do everything we want to do, I won't say it would be completely autonomous, but it would be like hybrid mode the whole match.![]() |

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?
Our team is already working on claw, chasis and drive train mock ups (We already decided on our design on Monday). Our Chairman's award entry will be done very soon (remember we don't qualify for the Chairman's anymore but we have to enter one to qualify for the HOF. The Chairman's not our main focus our HOF design is. So we quickly slap together a decent copy and focus on the HOF right after). The animation and Website are a little bit behind.

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?
Our team is pretty behind schedule compared to you guys, we get 30 of us or so in a room and debate the possible options we come up with and we have back tracked several times to revote for various reasons...I hope we have a finalized design by friday so we can start building whereas some of you have already ordered....eesh

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?
A little disappointed with our brain trust this year (I can only say that because I am design team head), we only came up with 2 plausible ideas, and are full-size prototyping one right now. Should have a robot mapped out (hopefully CAD'ed) by this friday.

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?
We are planning to have driving robot by the 13th. Here are some pictures to show our development, http://picasaweb.google.com/john.h.842
We plan making the drive train done as fast as possile, leaving us plenty of time for programming and designing extras. This plan have work well for three years now. |

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?
well team a prototype six wheel drive train the new electronic r working on and the real six wheel drive drive is 90 percent done and should be up and running saturday our next meeting and one of our mentors who machines all our parts should have the rest or the mechacism done by saturday. our programmers r working on the hybid mode. so i say we r ahead or schedule.

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?
We seem to be on track with our deadlines so far. Our new drive train design was supposed to be finished last night, and everything is supposed to be designed by the time we close the shop on Wednesday, and our drive train should (hopefully) be completed by the end of week 3. We still haven't chosen a manipulator, but we're prototyping a few different ideas right now. So far, things are going much, much better than last year.
Unfortunately, our shop will be closed during finals week (week 4), so we have 5 weeks to finish a robot when we've had intense difficulties doing so in 6 in the past. |

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?
We're still in our design stage, working with things on paper and inventor, but all teams have good ideas that they are working with. We should have something finalized, hopefully, tomorrow. We're on schedule

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?
We're about on schedule. It's my first year on the team, but it seems pretty rigorous. We've got some brainstorming done, and I'm pretty sure tonight will be it for prototyping. After that, we'll flesh out more work on the manipulator and get it fabricated ASAP. Since we've decided on the drive train, we'll be fabricating that now. Programming won't start for a while, but I hope we can at least try to get SOMETHING going soon. Better to start early, I say.

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?
We're completely done, and it's already in the crate
. And if you believe that, I have this cool bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you...We're essentially final on the chassis & drive system, parts ordered, some assembly is starting. Still some room for tweaking. We've god good ideas for the manipulator, but nothing firm yet. I'd put us a 2 days behind at the moment, not great for 4 days into the season... Don |

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?
we had a meeting saturday after kickoff, and pretty much evaluated everything and decided what we wanted our robot to do. since then we've completely rethought the idea maybe twice, but still came out pretty much the same design. our chassis is laid out, and we're doing some prototyping for our manipulators. our programmer has done as much as he can already, and even has the drive code pretty much written, and we're just waiting for parts to build the drive train, hopefully done by the weekend but unlikely, so he can make that work
we already received things from mcmaster, and our things from andymark were back ordered, so they'll get here tomorrow hopefully, and apparently some other things somehow got caught up at the customs office, so they won't get here till next week. compared to last year, we're at least a full week ahead, if not two weeks. However, since we our parts aren't here yet, we've resorted to dis-assembling an older robot to make it into a cart |

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?
our team is extremely far behind schedule at the moment due to the fact that most of our tools are under lock and key elsewhere where we cannot get them. we are trying to make due with tools brought from home but we are still searching for that mystical dremel cutting bit that no stores nearby seem to carry.
however frame is finger tightened at least and the electronics board has... well a bunch of marker marks on it for where things go. tommorow we are moving shop to another team to share a shop with so hopefully there we will have more luck. |

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?
TRX 145 is for once making our deadlines!!!!!!!. We have a (push) rolling chassis and device one all planned out. Maybe even device 2. I dont know cause i havn't been to a meeting in 2 days.

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?
Well we finally cut all the extruded aluminum, and tapped some of our wheels. Hopefully by Tuesday will have a chassis frame accomplished and the electrical team can get to work at it.
