Re: Team 1671 Teaser
Ooh. Nice.
What are you doing to drive the arm? What are you doing to drive the gripper? can you pick up on the other side of you? with 2 points of contact, how well does it grip the ball? |

Re: Team 1671 Teaser
hmm... this is a tough teaser to decipher
It looks great! at your furthest extension do you fit within the 80 inch cylinder? |

Re: Team 1671 Teaser
What height can you pick the ball up from , and how high can you lift the bottom of the ball ?

Re: Team 1671 Teaser
It looks like ET. the big problem I see with a mechanism like that is that it would have to extend at least 22 inches out in order to grip the ball effectively. This makes meeting the length specs problematic.

Re: Team 1671 Teaser
we have a similar design...however, i dont seem how it will "close down" into a starting position fitting 28x38x60 dimensions

Re: Team 1671 Teaser
there is only one joint so it should not violate the 80" rule but I am curious as to how they can pick up the ball from in front of them. Maybe they can only pick up from behind?

Re: Team 1671 Teaser
Awesome Job. Looks like they have a very low profile enabling the ball to roll right up to the vertical post. Bet it's a great herder.

Quote:
the gripper is going to be pretty complex using pneumatics, its really pretty neat how it works...maybe ill let my team send me some detailed pictures later... in this picture you can only see two points of contact, there is actually a 3 arm that is shaped like the other two, flipped 90 degrees to support the bottom part of the ball. its complicated to explain how that works. Best case scenario, we will be able to do everything with the ball. worst is that we will be able to knock it off and herd. We posted a thread a while back referring to our drivetrain. I will tell you that we are using a SuperShifter. For the rest, you guys will just have to wait and see it in action...maybe instead of a detailed photo i will get a video of it in action...we'll see what my team allows me to do if anything..haha As a team, we are pretty proud of it overall. Re: Team 1671 Teaser
NICE indeed! BRT1671 should be able to do it all, at least in CAD
Once we build it, we could show a few pics and maybe a video, just before we ship though! Haa haaa. Again like Andrew bhsrobotics1671 said, it all depends on what our team will allow us to show. Finally! We might get picked on an alliance team this year. I wonder how our bumpers will look? Thanks for your input everyone. This is beginning to be a great season for us this year. We are very proud of our mentors, team members, and coaches, and oh yes our sponsors!!!! We love our sponsors!!! See you at the regionals! Crossing our fingers for a National invite, Atlanta. ![]() |

Re: Team 1671 Teaser
haha well put frates. where you been?
we spent 8 hours saturday and 13 hours for me, 15 for joel (our engineer helping CAD our ideas) on sunday finishing things up. It's lookin pretty good... Also teams, i would like to announce here first that our team is working on an iPhone scouting app, since at least 6, maybe more of the kids on our team have them. we are also making a PDF form that will be able to be filled out via computer. both of these devices will collect the same data and organize them into a database for us. i am hoping we will be able to complete it early enough to make a version for other teams to use. See you at San Diego! |

Re: Team 1671 Teaser
Bumpers! You said bumpers.
I was available but was told that you had it under control. I don't want to impose on you or Joel. The iphone idea sounds great! Do you think this will work without any hitches? When do you think we will get our wheels? Also....do we have some team members cutting tread for our drive wheels? Are we making 2 bots? Oh and for the rest of you....when will we be able to use the "Nuclear Wessel" coming out of the turns or going into the turn? One more thing Andrew...we need to be able to have our pnuematics with the trackball arm - able to release pressure in order to allow field set up crew to release the trackball without having to power up the robot see rule <G45>. Hey who's working on the animation? I would love to see the Nuclear Wessel launched in animation! I love Captain Chechkoff Frates |
