Eclipse troubles - Nothing to build...
Hey everyone. The software group from my team is attempting to set up Eclipse with Shtylman's plugin to work with our FRC code, but we've run into difficulties and would like some help.
We've got Eclipse and the CDT, and have also downloaded Shtylman's MCC18 Eclipse Plugin. We create the new project and then paste our old code into the project folder in the workspace. We can see the files listed in the Project Explorer. Then we Build Project, assuming it will work, but the console displays "Nothing to build" and we don't know how to proceed. Can someone help? As of now we're going to try reinstalling the MCC18 compiler itself and see if that helps matters... Edit: Bleah, now it looks like Eclipse can't find Java! Don't know if reinstalling MCC18 did something funny to our PATH... Edit: We reinstalled Java, and now building gives us "Exec error: launching failed". This is getting frustrating... Your help would be appreciated greatly... Last edited by leftylink : 22-01-2008 at 20:49. |

Re: Eclipse troubles - Nothing to build...
We've been using Eclipse following the guidelines that Brad Miller documents at this site: http://users.wpi.edu/~bamiller/WPILib/
We're also using WPILib, which works well with learning C from EasyC. We're able to cut and paste code from EasyC right into Eclipse. I'm not familiar with Shtylman's plug-ins but if you hit a dead end, give the link above a try, it worked for me. |

Re: Eclipse troubles - Nothing to build...
I had a problem kinda like. I just moved the FRC_Defualt.hex out of the code directory. Then it worked.

Re: Eclipse troubles - Nothing to build...
I've seen this problem a lot and it can be caused by a few things. I'm using a slightly different mcc18 plugin for eclipse, but make sure you've installed mingw(http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...?group_id=2435) and added it to your path(C:\MinGW\bin).

Re: Eclipse troubles - Nothing to build...
Most likely you are missing the "make" utility from your path.
quickly Googling I located a download for it. http://www.steve.org.uk/Software/make/ You need to put the make program somewhere in your path where the system can find it. |

Re: Eclipse troubles - Nothing to build...
We had MinGW, we tried downloading make for Windows from shtylman's link... we wrestled with it for a while and decided that instead of trying to wrestle with this to get it to work, we would use Eclipse for working with the code and then use MPLab for when we need to compile. It's a really imperfect solution, but it's the best we can do.
