How do you...
How and where do you mount the following sensors on the robot?
Differential Peak-Detecting Gear Tooth Sensor Allegro Microsystems PN ATS642LSH Dual-Axis Accelerometer Analog Devices PN ADXL204 Yaw Rate Gyro Analog Devices PN AD22304 |

Re: How do you...
The gear tooth sensors mount inside the kit transmissions.
The other two can be mounted wherever you find a convenient place, and should be protected from damage somehow, perhaps placed on the electronics mounting area, with a cover over the whole thing (Lexan polycarbonate sheet can be used to make a good strong clear cover) |

Re: How do you...
As said above, the GTS mounts in the transmission boxes - you can see two mounting holes in the clear lexan for them.
The Gyro should be placed at your center of gravity - if you place it else where, the numbers will drift pretty badly as you move around the field. The accelerometer can be placed anywhere in the robot. All of them need to be protected from other robots and all moving parts - they are a little delicate. Last year the KoP had a different transmission with no mounting holes for the GTS, so we had to make our own mount. The gear one of them was sensing slipped on its axel and ended up grinding the GTS and ruining it, so keep safety in mind when locating these things! |
