Making Gears/Chain in Inventor?
For our robot, I was wondering if there was a way to get gears to move inside the toughbox, and if there was an easy way to make that then move a chain to a wheel.
Is there any tutorials, or do you have any advice on doing this, because other wise I am stumped! Thanks for all your help! |

Re: Making Gears/Chain in Inventor?
I'm not sure about the chain, but to make the gear or wheel move you can apply a motion constraint in your assembly. It should be in the tab with the other constraints. It allows you to set ratios.

Re: Making Gears/Chain in Inventor?
The only thing I could say is there may be a way to constrain the wheels to the gears to make them spin together, but I don't remember how to. As for the chain, don't worry about it as getting a part that complex to move may be hard. I would just use Inventor's "amazing" physics to the point that the sprokets move freely through the chain.

If your asking about how to create an animation so that the chain rotates, gears rotate, and wheels rotate all at the same time; it can be done, but I've never seen anybody bother to attempt it because it'll take you about a whole day to accomplish, and there are much more important things to do, like complete a robot, pictures, 2D's, wiring, pneumatics, other animations, ect.
