Antenna position

I know that the antenna needs to be in near vertical position in any playing position, but does anybody know if the antenna needs to be near vertical in starting position?

Re: Antenna position

Last year we mounted the antenna so that the top of the antenna box was just below the top of the strarting envelope when the antenna itself was horizontal. When our arm came up, it rotated the antenna to a vertical position where it stayed for the remainder of the match. We did not have any problems to speak of.

That would be good, given that the radio system is running the whole time your robot is on. However, I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it. I'm not an expert, but I don't think I've ever seen a radio cut out because the antenna wasn't vertical.
