Radio vs. Tether?
Our team used tether connection between Robot controller and Operator interface during our development. Now on the actual match, radio control was used.
We noticed that without any changes to the code ( we use EasyC Pro "OI to PWM" function to control wheel motor), and the same joysticks, the Robot runs slower in the match when radio control is used instead of tether. Any one has any thoughts? Please help. |

Re: Radio vs. Tether?
Could you please explain a little, such as what exactly is running slower?

Re: Radio vs. Tether?
Just speculation, but is it possible your battery was running down, resulting in a loss of power? Additionally, could it just seem slower compared to other robots on the field, whereas in practice, you have no robot to compare it to?

Re: Radio vs. Tether?
Also it may seem like it because the field that we play the game on is much bigger than the practice field. I would look at you dashboard during a match and view the RC data and make sure that everything is the same from practice to game play.

Re: Radio vs. Tether?
I never heard of a robot running at different rates between radio and tether at all... personally I think it just seems that way b/c your playing on a much bigger surface and with add'tl teams.

Re: Radio vs. Tether?
Is whether or not it's tethered the only difference? You might have been practicing on a surface with less friction than the carpet on a competition field.
