FIRST Robotics as Reality TV

Has anyone ever gone to any of the major television networks and shown them how this would make for a perfect reality TV. Everyone has seen extreme home makeover and how it helps families, FIRST helps students. Plus the drama and the panic of the teams working on their robots would serve as great television; moreover, it would spread the message of FIRST to millions of people at home. The filming of it would be perfect they have tons of teams to chose from, and it reaches over a span of 3 1/2 months with breaks in between: perfect for a television season.

This has definitely been considered before, both by teams and FIRST, though the logistics would be too difficult. In addition, FIRST did not like the negative stigma associated with reality TV to carry over into the program.
