Hi FIRST team members. I am glad to announce a FIRST post season event to be held on Aug. 1-2, 2008 in Columbus, Ohio. Do not be satisfied with one or two regional events. Come compete with the world's best in 2008 OverDrive Game AGAIN at NO cost. Workshop on the integration of Pro/ENGINEER and Windchill in FIRST robotics will be offered in conjunction with the game by Battelle Memorial Institute engineers.
The game will be held on the same weekend that the state of Ohio host the Ohio State Fair. The location of the game site is less than a mile from the state fair. Compete during the day and enjoy the evenings at the state fair for a lot of food and plenty of fun.

Yes you will play the overdrive game. IRI rules change also

There are 2 separate activities being advertised on the website.

The World Robotics Invitational refers to the FREE FIRST Overdrive competition being held August 1-2. This event also offers a Pro/E - PTC Windchill workshop.

The Transform Your Robot competition is a separate contest. It has its own Chief Delphi discussion thread here.

Sadly, we are cancelling our World Robotics Invitational (WRI) event for this season. We had only a few teams (Dublin/48, Whetstone/1008 & Columbus Alternative/2387) register to participate by the deadline June 15 via the website.

We are also still planning to continue with "TRANSFORM Your FIRST Robot" competition. Details can be found at http://www.worldroboticsinvitational...RST_Robot.html .

We continue to remain optimistic and are already beginning the plans for a 2009 World Robotics Invitational off-season FIRST event for the Columbus area and for it to be an event that many FIRST teams will want to participate in.

We thank you again for your willingness to support WRI and hope that you will join us next year and also continue to be an advocate to communicate to other FIRST teams to participate in WRI in 2009.
