Junior Robotics Challenge

Registration is now open for the newest summer robotics program to be held at WPI, the Junior Robotics Challenge!

Designed for students entering 6th through 8th grade, the program introduces participants to the world of robotics through the LEGO Mindstorms NXT kit and programming language. Students will design robots to solve different missions that scientists in the field of alternative energies focus on every day. The program is modeled after the FIRST LEGO League and will incorporate the same missions as the FIRST program, teaching the kids how to work in teams, solve tough problems, compete like crazy, and have fun!

This program is being run as a fundraiser for Team 1735. More information about the program and to register, visit http://www.wpi.edu/+JRC

Program Information
Dates: August 4-8 and August 11-15
Time: 9am – 3pm, Monday-Friday
Location: WPI Campus
Cost: $250

Re: Junior Robotics Challenge

Junior Robotics Challenge was in the local newspaper this past week. The program finished about a month ago, and was a huge success. There were two sessions that each ran for a week with 19 kids the first session and 7 the next. Students were put into teams to build and program their own robot with the LEGO Mindstorms NXT kit. At the end of each session the teams competed with each other on the LEGO League playing field from this year. I’d like to thank everyone who put their time into making this program happen as it was great success.
