Re: What's Your Favorite Autonomous (or Hyrbid) Ever?

To me it has to go to 190 in 2004. The way they did it time and time again was amazing. There wasn't any green lights back then to guide you.

The same year 980 also had the ablity to pick up the big ball and then knock off the little ball was a close second.

190 has video somewhere of their 04 auto where they launched off of 237 at River Rage to get to the bar - when I talk about FIRST to new people, that's the video I used to show all the time.

I'd have to go with 233 in 2005. Silky smooth and flawless.

Re: What's Your Favorite Autonomous (or Hyrbid) Ever?

I really liked the autonomous mode from 70,494, and 537 at Buckeye in 2007 during the finals. 537's robot was really similar to the martians. All three arms would lift up and rotate at the same time. It looked really cool.

Argh, I forgot about Pink's!

For the uninitiated: Pink would drive out to the autoloaders on the far side of the field, stick their arm out enough, and grab a tetra. They would then spin around, rotate their arm, stick it out again, and grab a second tetra (which would now be sitting on the autoloader). When many teams would have to take time in teleop to get to the human loading zones (or even grab just one tetra from the autoloader), having two tetras in your possession at the opening bell can make a lot of difference!

Re: What's Your Favorite Autonomous (or Hyrbid) Ever?

1. 469 (2006)-Like a lot of teams the Las Guerillas could consistantly score 10 balls in autonomous. Unlike all other teams they scored 10 balls in 1 second. It was one of the coolest things ever.

2. 1114 (2008)-Speed, precision, and consistancy, you can't ask for much more from an auto mode. When they finally got 7 lines and 2 balls at IRI i was stunned

3. 703 (2006)-They did something no other team did, climb the ramp and shoot 10 balls into the goal. It was one of the coolest things to see.

4. 910 (2008)-Specifically during the post season. I loved watching them score 2 keepers at The Advanced Robotics COmpetition, unfortunately i was coaching against them.

5. 233 (2005)-Not only did they knock off a hanging tetra and score another, they loaded up two tetras and were ready to go as soon as the match started. You can't get much better than that.

Re: What's Your Favorite Autonomous (or Hyrbid) Ever?

I forgot that it was 910 last year attempting to get 2 in auto (I know they succeeded at least once, but I can't remember if it was at Kettering.) This year 910 at kettering was getting 6 lines and 2 balls. I'd be curious to see just how many lines someone could make speed racer (1519's speed bot) to get in auto... It was capable of doing a lap in 6 seconds, which means it could theoretically make about 10 lines... be neat to see it happen.

Oh yeah... 190's 2004 auto was pretty amazing... though i'm pretty sure we hung on top of them at 2004's wonderland invitational...

It was way before its time, which is why it is easily my favorite. Here is a video of how it worked http://www.wildstang.org/main/stangps.php and some of it in action: http://www.wildstang.org/main/video.php?year=2003

Yeah, buddy. It figures you two guys would beat me to this pick. There are others that were as visually jaw dropping, but StangPS flat out revolutionized automode in FIRST.

Thanks. Baxter Bomb Squad (16) had a crazy fast auto mode that year. I don't think I have seen anything as fast as that ever.
