Hexbug hacking for fun and profit
Hack a Day linked me to this article, where they're chopping up a Hexbug and connecting up a new microcontroller to enable some nifty new things:

Wow, this site did a very detailed job of taking apart the hexbug. thanks for the info. I will never look at a hexbug in quite the same way again.
