Re: Autodesk Inventor 2009 Problems

Same problem, same error message. Tried repairing, and reinstalling after a clean uninstall. I got a warning during the install that said, "Limited Support. Please consult the document 'Managing your Data' for supported operating systems." After scanning this hard to find document, I was not able to find any information about "supported operating systems". Clicking on the warning brings up a help dialog with the following information:
"This check will warn you if you are attempting to install on a unsupported operating system or service pack. If your system does not pass this check, then the system may not install or work properly."
I'm running Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 3. Is there a problem with Inventor running on SP3? Anyone else having problems?

Re: Autodesk Inventor 2009 Problems

odd, i run xp pro sp3, and the install went through without a hitch...

inventor runs fine (and loads faster than the old version)

i can't see any reason why it won't install, but i hope you get it figured out before jan. 3rd!!!!!!

Kept trying and it worked after several tries.

Re: Autodesk Inventor 2009 Problems

just a thought, check the system requirements of the software, and make sure your computer has the specifications. if it doesn't that could cause a problem. If it has all the requirements, then I'm going to need a couple minutes to think on that.

Well thought a bit, this could work, just keep reinstalling it and uninstalling it, and if all these suggestions still don't work, I would definitely give Auto Desk a call, and see if they can give you a specific answer, and if they give you an answer that works, tell me what it was.

Try reinstalling windows. That's usually a solution for most problems.

Autodesk doesn't list XP Home in their system requirements - just XP Pro and Vista. I can't say for sure if this is the cause of your problem, but Inventor has always been very picky about system resources.

If you haven't solved this problem by now and haven't contacted Autodesk, I recommend you go that route. If you have solved it, it might be helpful for others to know how you did it.

Re: Autodesk Inventor 2009 Problems

You most likely have an older processor that doesn't support the SSE2 instruction set. See the Autodesk Knowledge base entry at
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet...linkID=9242018

Quote:
Failure to initialize - SSE2 instruction sets missing
Issue

When you tried to open Inventor, the program failed to start and you received an error message similar to the one below.

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000001d). Click on OK to terminate the application.

Solution

This issue occurred because your CPU does not support SSE2 instruction sets.

Inventor 2009 has been optimized to take advantage of the SSE2 extended instruction sets supported on Pentium 4, AMD Athlon 64 and AMD Opteron processors. Inventor 2009 will not install on computers that do not support SSE2.

There are several utilities available on the internet that can be used to verify your CPU capabilities, including supported instructions sets. For example, CPUZ

Re: Autodesk Inventor 2009 Problems

I'm also having installation problems, but I think it's related to Vista64 OS.

I started a thread in the Inventor sub-forum (clicky).

If you're running Inventor '09 on a Vista64 machine, please post over there and tell me how you did it.

The long download completes, the installer starts, then immediately says something about how it "doesn't support this OS".

FYI: I'm trying this on an HP Pavilion dv5 Laptop with Vista64.

Thanks.
