Re: pic: '08 robot with '09 control system
I see that you guys are using a few spikes. I was under the impression that with the new control system we would only need to use one spike for the compressor, and that solenoids were wired directly to the cRIO. If so, what are those other spikes for?

Re: pic: '08 robot with '09 control system
That is how it is intended to be used. There are still relay outputs for spikes if you want them or you need to control more than eight solenoids. Just becauser FIRST wants us to use the pneumatic breakout doesn't mean we have to.

I like the bundle of zip ties next to the power distribution panel.
![]() what problem can't zip ties solve? |

So assuming your '08 robot was still at a legal competition weight before switching out the control system - how much over does this control scheme push your weight?
The first thing I immediately noticed after seeing the new control system is that it is much heavier than the old set-up. |

The new system weighs about 5 pounds more than the old.

Re: pic: '08 robot with '09 control system
Is it just me or does it look photoshopped where the two DSC meet and running over to the PDB? I do not want this to seem like I am accusing you of anything.

And sorry for the bluryness, I had to compress it to make it under 2mb. |
