Finding Orbit Balls In Canada

We've called lots of Walmarts and visited the closest one, seems like no luck North of the States. Does anyone have information on where we can find some here? We will be checking all the Toys-R-Us's, Zellers, and Walmarts in the morning, and have no K-Marts.

-Cheers-

Re: Finding Orbit Balls In Canada

Karen Rosenthal will be trying to get balls for Canadian teams. We will be getting them all ordered up at once to save on brokerage charges. There will be an email sent to the contacts when we have more info. Let your mentor know to watch for the email as we will need to know how many that each team would like to order.

The flooring, or one close to it, is available at Home Depot for about $52.00 with tax.

I just went into the store and bought a sheet. It took a while to find and it had the smooth side up so I just about missed it.

No luck for us, either. One of the parents on the team even volunteered to pop across the border to Niagara Falls, NY to check the Wal-Marts and Targets there, but found nothing.

Re: Finding Orbit Balls In Canada

I'm going to make some phone calls in the morning to my old employer and see if he can dig up a supplier for them.

Has anyone heard or seen anything to indicate that these were ever sold in Canada?

By the way, our's broke after just a few hours of "studying" it.

Re: Finding Orbit Balls In Canada

Yup, looks like these balls, which are a) difficult to find to begin with, being that the manufacturer discontinued them, b) relatively fragile for a FRC game piece, and c) not particularly cheap are pretty much impossible to get in Canada for the time being, at least till Karen and the folks at FIRST Robotics Canada come through with this mystery supplier, since even the American teams are having large difficulties getting a significant number of them.

Re: Finding Orbit Balls In Canada

We have similar problems in the UK. John Lewis, Toys R Us, Hammleys... none of the staff I showed the picture to has ever seen one. At least we know to protect the one in the kit, whenever the kits show up.

Try going to the blip toys website and inquiring about an order.

We have checked many and phoned many more of the above mentioned stores in Canada. None had ever seen the Orbit Ball before. We'll be investigating further tomorrow morning.
