Conveyor belt help

I was wondering if anyone made a conveyor belt for their robot in Inventor 2009. If so, could you please explain how you would do so.

Thank you

Re: Conveyor belt help

If you know the shape of it, draw the sides using splines and extrude from there.

Re: Conveyor belt help

Actually we finished protyping our conveyour belt yesterday...ill get a pic tomorrow (todays meeting had to be canceled)...but basically its a frame (made it out of plywood) with the bottom of it as a guide and the top is a conveyor made of chef liner...we made the liner with about 8.5 in from the guide to compress the ball a bit...i know this probably made no sense but ill get u a pic tomorrow...i have a link to another teams conveyor ours is a little similar

Re: Conveyor belt help

We are using round belting on our robot and we modeled it using sweeps.

A similar way is to draw the path just along the inside or the outside surface of the belt (not both), extrude as a surface, then use the Thicken tool to give it a consistent thickness.

Depending on your requirements, one of the generators in Inventor might do the trick.
