Re: pic: 1098 Steering 2009
Looks cool! be sure to keep your CG LOW with this beast, it looks tippy! With the inside wheels so close together, it may want to fall over to that side...

Re: pic: 1098 Steering 2009
Thanks for your thoughts. I am a mentor on 1098. This bot has a very low CG. The team is planning on adding weight low on the chassis as well. They are expecting to be about 20 to 30 pounds under weight. The chassis does seems very stable right now.

Re: pic: 1098 Steering 2009
Is there a separate motor on each wheel?

Re: pic: 1098 Steering 2009
we considered a design nearly exactly like this. seems like a pretty simple way to get 4 wheel steering. We ended up weighing the options and went with a 4 wheel ackermann style steering system. very similar steering benefits but a bit more stable since the wheels don't get too close together.
good luck with the design - i hope it works well for you. |

Re: pic: 1098 Steering 2009
it is interesting seeing this idea put to use.
It was an option that our team decided against (this style) due to the tipping chance. good luck Brandon |
