Go to Post Personally, I'm really not jealous of any good team in FIRST. I'm happy for them, and take a page out of their books to see how we can better impact our students in the future. - waialua359 [more]

Team-given awards

Our team was thinking about giving out some awards on our own; ideas ranged from Biggest Catastrophe to Most Intimidating Robot. We never followed through, though.

Just curious, how many teams are giving out their own awards? If you are, please post the names.

Thanks!

Re: Team-given awards

My favorite award that 1675 usually gives out is the Martha Stewart Pit award.

They give it to the team whose pit they like the most.

I once suggested it be given to the team who comes closest to breaking the rules without getting caught but that's not quite GP (and she got caught)

In the past we have voted on who to give the awards to on Thursday and Friday afternoons/nights, and we make a big commotion in the pit when handing them out.

Re: Team-given awards

For several years, pre-dating my involvement with the team, Capital Robotics has given out de facto awards in the form of team shirts. There's no set criteria to determine who should receive one, just a member of the team noticing that someone's gone above and beyond in their efforts and pitching it to the rest of the team. In the past, we've recognized everyone from mascots to mentors, pre-rookies to venue staff.

We'll have some more with us at Palmetto, and we'll be watching.

Re: Team-given awards

Alot of teams give out rewards.

My old team gave out awards for:
Best Rookie
Wish-Your-Was-Ours for our favorite robot
Drove it like you stole it for exactly that
Martha Stewart Pit Award, as josh said
Best Alliance Partner - given to an alliance partner we worked very well with
