Changing Safety Captains

This year, our Safety Captain is unavailable to attend the championship. So, the question that our team was pondering is 1) are we allowed to change our Safety Captain at the championship, or 2) are we allowed to have 2 Safety Captains? Thanks!

Re: Changing Safety Captains

Quick look at the rules doesn't reveal anything that would prohibit you from changing safety captain. Just make sure the new one gets the badge....

You can change safety captains as much as you want, just make sure they know the safety manual well and can keep a pit under control.

If you want to organize your team with two safety captains do it, but you will only have one safety captain representing your team (the "official safety captain")

Re: Changing Safety Captains

FIRST doesn't keep tabs on who is safety captain. Our safety captain spot shifted at least three times in Midwest.

Re: Changing Safety Captains

Couple years ago, I was Safety Captain for my team, but I was also a scout. The pin stayed in the pit with the acting safety captain, but at one point, I was specifically asked for. I was in the stands at the time.

There is no rule about switching safety captains, even during the event. Done it before, no problem.

Yes dont forget the badge. unless i'm mistaken you dont get new safety captain badges; drivers do get new ones for each competition.
