Go to Post Many students I have met will insist that nothing is better than FIRST robotics. And most people would agree that a ham sandwich is better than nothing. So does it logically follow that a ham sandwich is better than FIRST robotics? - tsaksa [more]

Smile Is your team using Pro/ENGINEER?

I am curious to find out how many teams are using Pro/ENGINEER for the 2010 season?

Re: Is your team using Pro/ENGINEER?

Nope, we're using a whiteboard and FakeCAD (i.e. Hammer - the source engine map maker).

Re: Is your team using Pro/ENGINEER?

Our team has been using Pro-E for years now and it’s been working great

This year though we have been using Windchill and its wonderful to be able to do it from home. The interface could be a lot better though... its fine after you understand how everything works and where to find stuff but it’s not a good idea to implement it 1/2 way though our design process.

We had a pretty silly scenario tonight because we had a design review where we invited engineers from our area to see what we have been up to and offer ideas/suggestions to our design. And one of our mentors, who attends U-Mass Lowell, was showing off the robot to fellow classmates and decided to do some tweaks to a couple of the assemblies so before the design review. We tried to open the main assembly to find a bunch of errors about how it can't open 3 of the sub assemblies due to the fact they were saved using Wild Fire 5... so I was in the back the whole time trying to figure out how to roll back the assembly files... and I couldn’t figure it out but as soon as I got home I figured it out...
