Where you "Cant" hang from

Hey guys, my team was trying to decide where exactly you can and cant hang from on the tower more importantly two specific areas, first is the platform itself and the second is that second lower bar on the alliance side on the tower labeled in drawing GE-10028 as GE-10028(4) support bottom. it would be really helpful to gain some insight to where you can and cannot hang considering the manual only specifies "black tape" as where you cant hang. Thanks a lot.

Re: Where you "Cant" hang from

The side of the tower that is towards your alliance station has the supports for the ball return. That's the side you can't hang from. It's also the side you could see what you're doing...

I think they made it that way as part of the challenge. have fun!

Re: Where you "Cant" hang from

cool, thanks, my team was also thinking about hanging from the two bars on the platform. To be exact, we were going to fit through the tunnel, and while in the tunnel we were going to latch ourselves onto the two rods that make up the tower platform and hang from there. Do you think in your opinion that that is legal?

Re: Where you "Cant" hang from

Did you read in the rules the definitions of ELEVATED and SUSPENDED? I can't really understand what you're describing, but if you are not entirely above the PLATFORM (the top of the tunnel) and you're contacting the TOWER then you are not gonna get any points.

In order to get the bonus points for being ELEVATED, you need to be above the plane of the TOWER PLATFORM.

While you are right that you cannot hang from the bar at the top, who is to say that you can hang sideways on the vertical support bars? In this way you are allowed to hang from this side, which makes it easier for your drivers to orient themselves to perform the hanging operation. At the same time you're opening up more real estate for your alliance partners on the opposite side to hang and/or suspend.

Re: Where you "Cant" hang from

Where does it say you cant hang from the ball return side of the tower? It says you cannot hang from the ball return support rod(the lower one covered with tape) but I did not see anywhere that says you cant hang from the top rod on that side.

Re: Where you "Cant" hang from

You're right, I was not specific enough. you can hang from the vertical bars wherever you want to, but you cannot hang from the horizontal bars on the alliance station side of the tower.

Both horizontal bars on that side are covered in tape, and you cannot hang from them. I think this is most clear in the field drawings.
