2009 Gaming Adapter not working after reset

We reset the 2009 gaming adapter because it was not working. Now, we are unable to connect to the router, no matter what type of cable we used and even tried going through the wireless router. While connected from laptop to gaming adapter, the ip was unable to be found and windows timed out, eventually. Please help.

Re: 2009 Gaming Adapter not working after reset

MartinB,
First, welcome to CD.

Make sure you have the reset button held in for 10-15 seconds when applying power to the game adapter. This will reset it to factory defaults. Then connect it directly to your laptop/PC to configure it properly for your teams system.
For more specific instructions, go to this document on the FIRST web site.

Re: 2009 Gaming Adapter not working after reset

I ran into this same problem this year. When you reset the gaming adapter, it reverts to its native IP of 192.168.1.250. With this IP change, the router will no longer see it. I had to reset the router to default settings, configure the gaming adapter in accord with the instructions, then reconfigure the router. Annoying, yes. There's probably an easier way, but that worked for me.

You can connect the WGA directly to your computer. You don't have to reconfigure the router, because you don't need to use the router in order to talk to the WGA. Just set your computer's IP address to 192.168.1.n (6 is a good value for n), configure the WGA, and set your computer's IP address back to where you want it (e.g. 10.10.99.6).

Re: 2009 Gaming Adapter not working after reset

We ended up getting it working by resetting the router and connecting through there(did not think of setting the ip of the computer). I just hate when the new members do not listen to the older members when we say "you can't connect wirelessly to a gaming adapter" and then they proceed to waste the day on trying to connect wirelessly.
