Unhappy cRio not detected...

Hey everyone, I'm the lead mentor for the RoboNinjas, a rookie team, and we are pretty much in dire need of help

we've only just recently managed to pull most of the electrical components together and have a somewhat stable test layout ready to go, however after having spent several days configuring the router, adapter, cRio, etc... when it came down to testing the cRio we were unable to detect it. i confirmed that the gaming adapter works and is detected by the router, and the "ethernet" lights are flashing on both the cRio and the adapter, however the control station does not detect the cRio.

we have already tried re-imaging the cRio, uploaded some coding via labview, reset the cRio and re-imaged again, reset the router / adapter / etc... and still no good.

are we missing something?

Re: cRio not detected...

Have you set your team number in the driver station software?

From the laptop, can you ping 10.31.95.2 and get a response?

we did set the driver station, but i won't be able to test the ping until later this afternoon. would you mind writing out the next steps for both scenarios (being able to ping and not being able to ping x.x.x.2)?

thanks for the help!

Re: cRio not detected...

If you can ping, then your network is setup properly, and you should be able to see it. Similarly, if you can flash code into it, then this is working. There could still be an issue with a firewall or similar.

If you can't ping, its an issue with your network setup.

we flashed the code directly to the cRio using a crossover cable.

Re: cRio not detected...

disable your wired adapter. the IP stack on windows boxes gets confused when it has two adapters on the same subnet

So today i had my students take another look at all the documentation and wiring. one of the students found what the issue was almost immediately... apparently when i went to test the connectivity on the cRio myself, i had plugged the ethernet cable into port 2 instead of port one (D'OH!!)

thanks for the help though, i'm glad to know someone is looking out for us rookies (even when the mentor himself has a rookie moment)
