Help on the Drive train!!!!

My name is Nick James and im from Team 1880. I do programming and I help with the robot.

The problem: The left side of our robot doesn't want to drive backwards, but we can drive forwards with both sides.

We tried:
-changing the motors
-changing the jaquars
-changing the PWM cables
-checking the program
-checking the wiring
-changing digital sidecar
-making sure the gearbox runs(with a battery as a direct source)

We are stumped at this point. If anybody knows or has any suggestions, please post!!!!
Thank You and hope to see everybody at the competition!!!!

Good Luck!!!

Re: Help on the Drive train!!!!

I am 99% sure that your issue is software. Can you post your code?

Re: Help on the Drive train!!!!

The Jaguar speed controller also has a failure mode where it only works in one direction. You could swap pwm cables between sides and see if the problem follows the pwm cable or the speed controller.

Re: Help on the Drive train!!!!

We had a similar symptom on our robot several years ago. The root cause was a loose bearing that let the gears disengage when the gearbox was running in one direction. Is your problem that the left side motors don't run in reverse, or that the left side wheels don't move when the motors turn that way? If the motors don't run, can you hear them trying to?
