Deployment Communications Fail

When we try to deploy code to the cRIO, it works sometimes but most of the time it loses connection and fails. Specifically, it essentially always loses connection while Deploying 2010 Game Robot Project.lvproj, and usually doesn't pick it up again. It never loses communication at any other time though. This problem showed up suddenly yesterday (we updated our LabVIEW and DS the day before yesterday, so it doesn't seem to be that). When it showed up, we were testing archived versions of the code from around a week ago (we were trying to figure out what caused this problem to show up: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...01#post923301), and we we checked the most recent version again the problem persisted.

Re: Deployment Communications Fail

If this is simply the dialog that says it may have lost the connection and has a cancel button, you may just want to wait a bit longer. If you cancel, you cancel the download. If you wait, it will either resolve and close the dialog, or it will fail out after ten to fifteen seconds and put up a different dialog.

My understanding is the first dialog is simply indicating that some comms are timing out, possibly due to a big download.

Re: Deployment Communications Fail

I do wait. Usually it just sits there for several minutes. At that point I conclude it's not going to move on. Sometimes I wait and it resumes and then it all works fine.

Re: Deployment Communications Fail

When it doesn't resume, you might try a simple cRIO reset, then try again. I'm looking for a process that works that doesn't involve a 20 min formatting for a bunch of flash. It is very unlikely that there is anything wrong with the image that it needs to be flashed.

Re: Deployment Communications Fail

I'll add that we are having the same problem.

When we deploy, it always fails at that same point. This started occuring a day or two after we updated LabVIEW (i.e. today/yesterday (it's 12:58am.))

I'm waiting right now for it to continue, but it doesn't look like it will.

Thank you for any help.

Re: Deployment Communications Fail

Sounds like we are having the same problem. Don't remember exactly but it gets to the project line and posts the waiting message loss connect with the CRIO. Ping works great. If I try to deploy again it says access denied. After about 30 minutes of screwing around with restarting the CRIO and the DS it eventually deploys successfully and then subsequent deploys work well if nothing is shutoff. Haven't found the magic recipe to reliability get it to work. I hope there is a fix to this communication bug soon!

Re: Deployment Communications Fail

We followed the advice from nathand in the NI.COM FIRST discussions. http://decibel.ni.com/content/thread/6231?tstart=0 We set the CRIO dip switch to "No APP". We were then able to deploy our code from our Laptop wirelessly on the first attempt. It's working great! TNX agn to nathand.
