Our camera broke....

So today we entered a pre-shipping scrimmage and sadly during one of the matches our camera took a rather interesting hit and now the power wont work on it. We've tried fixing it but worst comes to worst we want to have a back up.

Which leads me to my question. Where can we buy a new one or an equivalent? I checked the Axis website and it redirects me to a few websites but the closest ones to where I am are either non-working or just redirect back to Axis when I click on buying the camera(M1011 which I believe is the right replacement) . So does anyone know a reliable source for a new camera?

Re: Our camera broke....

No, but I can tell you that this question is answered on the FIRST website.
Find the document named something like "where to get more of..."

It looks like is is a discontinued item, but some retailers might have some old stock around. Axis is listing a replacement model, so you might want to call FIRST to see if they have an acceptable replacement. You won't be the only one needing a replacement once Competition starts. Try this link and contact the retailer by phone, as they are not showing it as discontinued - yet. Good Luck!

Re: Our camera broke....

Rather than spend time looking for a 206, you may want to purchase an M1011 instead. It is the replacement for the 206, and should be much easier to locate than the discontinued 206.

I would still contact FIRST to be sure the replacement model is acceptable. Specs may have changed with the replacement model, and it would seem FIRST would be able to provide a quick and "legal" answer. Those cameras are fairly expensive to purchase, and buying one that you can't use wastes resources.

Do you think there is a rule that requires a specific camera?

Re: Our camera broke....

Buy the M1011 it is a FIRST approved replacement. We have one and it works great. We used it yesterday during the Colorado scrimage and now 'we wouldn't leave home without'.

No, especially after looking at the Official Inspection Checklist. However, a phone call to FIRST would be prudent to ensure the replacement camera is comparable, not providing an unfair advantage over teams using the one provided in the kit, and the programming code will operate the replacement unit properly.
