How To Really Show Your Spirit At Championships

Since it is my first year attending, I wanted to see how everyone is going to show more spirit at Championships. Personally, team 1647 is gearing up and has many things planned. We wanted to know how other teams are preparing. Throw around some ideas and let us all know!

It would be a miracle of 3132 got enough sponsors to even go to Atlanta, but we will be there in full Aussie swing. Keep an eye out for our flags.

My team really has zero team spirit when it comes to cheering us on or anything like that but we try just to have fun while we are there

Re: How To Really Show Your Spirit At Championships

A good way to show spirit (and GP) is not to save seats in the audience. Most of the time those good saved seats down front stay empty and wasted. When I see people looking for a place to sit, I invite them to sit with my team.

The way I do it at any competition: Spike your hair, dye your hair, wear buttons, wear lots of team colors, and cheer your brains out.
Hehe. I'll see you guys there!! Good luck.

Re: How To Really Show Your Spirit At Championships

Although I will not be in Atlanta this year, I'd like to take this opportunity to share how I would show my spirit if I were there.

I would be respectful of the people in front of me by not:
  • Kicking their chairs
  • Hanging my legs over the chair next to them
  • Screaming loudly behind them
  • Sounding an air horn, clapping loud "thunder sticks", or using other loud devices.

I would be respectful of the people behind me by not:
  • Standing up
  • Waving a large flag or holding a large sign blocking the views of others
  • Sitting in front of someone short, if I am tall

I would be respectful of the people around me by not:
  • Moving someone's belongings so I can sit there
  • Leaving my trash in the stands
  • Trampling over several people to snag the one open seat, in the middle of an entire team
  • Saving entire rows of premium seats when other people are in need of them, and my own team is not present
  • Yelling "Robot!" as loudly as I can when pushing my robot through the pits and there is no one even remotely close to being in the way.
  • Knocking someone in the head with my flag that I am so ferociously waving that I don't realize people around me.
I don't mean to ruin anyone's parade, but I have experienced all of the above, and it simply is not fun. I am a big fan of teams showing their spirit, but there is showing spirit, and then there is being obnoxious.

When showing your spirit, please remember you aren't the only one trying to have a good time. Not everyone likes to express their spirit in the same ways. Please be respectful to those around you.

I got to grab some hair dye sometime this weekend. If not I will be wearing my signature "Philadelphia" maroon hat to tie in with my team colors.

Re: How To Really Show Your Spirit At Championships

To represent the EngiNERDs I'll be lookin' nerdy... but I guess that's the same as most days...

I'll probably be sportin all my team T-Shirts, with some nerd glasses, and new this year, a black or red bandana. Not TONS of spirt, but probably the 2nd most spirited apparel on my team

I will be donning the blazer to go with our tie shirts

You can see me in the background with the crazy/curly hair.

I loved the two in the foreground! No matter what they did, wether it be dancing or cheering, I never saw them smile! I loved watching them go by with the robot also, still never smiling. I enjoyed 201's spirt, and I wish more teams would dress up like that!
