For those FTB or Tekkit fans...no one got the reference at world from what I can tell.

Team 4901 requesting Iridium Enriched Tungsten Steel Plate.

You know.....so we can make a nice GregTek Fusion Reactor.

Re: Funny things to ask for on the PA system

My favorite was at the Sacramento Regional this year. The guys at the help desk made a bet, and broadcasted over the PA:

"Team XXXX needs $10. That's Team XXXX, and they need $10."
A few minutes later,
"Thank you, everybody, for proving my point."

More than 10 teams had brought $10. It was a hilarious illustration of how willing people are to help at competition

Can confirm.

I only had a 20, so I offered that. Two next to me were in the same situation. I remember hearing someone say "All I have is a hundred. Is that okay?"

FIRST teams never cease to amaze me.

You never know, maybe they just needed a few extra corn dogs to last the rest of the competition.

And I am sure plenty of teams have lent out much more than $20 worth of stuff and not gotten/wanted it back

Just thought this one up:

"Team XXXX is looking for their robot, if seen please return it to team XXXX.

On a completely different note, Team XXXX is in need of a hourglass and a dunce hat."

Re: Funny things to ask for on the PA system

One we actually did was ask for a two speed transmission. One of our alumni mentors was annoyed with our one speed winch and having to unwind it so he was trying to find a supershifter to swap in. After this was announced our alliance partners for our next match were in our pit asking what was wrong

And now I'm going to have the announcer ask for corn dogs at Chezy Champs.

Re: Funny things to ask for on the PA system

Early Thursday morning at Championship in 2012, one team (can't remember the number) was looking for a pair of "size 14 closed toe shoes".

Re: Funny things to ask for on the PA system

At CMP I heard an announcement requesting a 3 pound sledge hammer
My two questions were:
Why would you need a 3 pound sledge hammer and who would have a 3 pound sledge hammer in their tool kit?

In 2006, Team 4 competed at the Greater Toronto regional, however our robot didn't make it through customs due to the type of wood our crate was made of.

"Team 4 needs a robot"

PS: We built a robot ("The One Day Wonder") and won the Judge's Award!
