Re: Funny things to ask for on the PA system

How about this: ask for some very odd, seemingly non-pit related things. Try for the "what in the world do they need THAT for?!?!" emotion

-a fishing pole
-a 10x8 ft sheet of plywood
-a copy of Shakespeare's Hamlet ("It needs to be hardcover!")
-a 100 ft Ethernet cable
-10 or more rolls of scotch tape

This is a category that really could get big

Re: Funny things to ask for on the PA system

At Championships I'm pretty sure we heard someone ask for "a robot chassis." Now that's a pretty gutsy request. "Would you like a 4WD, 8WD, swerve, or holonomic?" "Whatever will win, please."

Re: Funny things to ask for on the PA system

no one quite knows way the team started this, but for years we have been asking for stuff like these ...

Left handed metric wrench(s).
( doesn't really come from one place, it's just a tool joke )

Self Sealing Stem Bolts,
( Star Trek Deep Space Nine )

Knibbler Pins,
( no idea, it's just a thing. )

19/16ths left hand threaded bolt
( again, no idea. It just happened )

20Kw DC electromagnets
( another, "why?... How?!," it's just a thing some kids thought up )

50ft of Coaxial cable.
( seemed like a thing to do at the time. )

a MOAB
( that was remembered the year after by an official )

Someone asked for their Dungeon Master, a players hand book,
their "Gee EM". A "Dee twenty ". ( several of us had them on hand ! )

A cup holder for the robot.
( it needed coffee ! )

We asked for Saw dust ( for the radioactive Hamsters,
Rumored to be living in our robot... As a power source ).
That joke got us suuuuuuch a looking over by the judges and safety people.

crystalized Dilithium.
( reverse the words... )
