Re: Galileo 2010
WOW!!!!
What happened to Archimedes and Curie stacked and power ranked to come out on top? Newton happened with Galileo pushing right behind!!!! Congratulations to 67 / HOT and partners 294 & 177 for threading the needle and beating us in Einstein semis in the most competitive series in our recent history, and especially for going on to win in the finals, just an awesome performance in an incredibly tough and level field. So many thanks to our alliance partners: Tyler and the crew of 2056/OP, the Canadians from Stoney Creek, a great bot (and one of the most talented and professional teams we've had the pleasure to work with) and to 3138 the Innovators from Ohio (I still can't believe you are a rookie bot, especially after the awesome D you played in zone 3 in ADDITION to clearing balls out for our side to score, I did not see better zone 3 play all season!). Tyler, congratulations on your regional Woodie Flowers award, that means a lot! This alliance was one of the best matched to play this game. 2056 was on the top of our selection list from our first scouting meetings before leaving for Atlanta and stayed there all thru competition. 3138 was at and near the top for both of us for second pick, boy were we glad they were still around! When you can play the game with each bot doing their job so well in each zone that the balls flow without having to zone jump (watch our Einstein semi-finals match number 2) it is just poetry in motion! No robot waiting time, no ball bottlenecks, just constant smooth robot action. If 3138 hadn't gotten stuck in that last match......AUGGGGH! More thank yous: to 1717, 217, 188, 51, 78 and many others for playing with us and against us well in qualifiers, great teams all (nice lift 1717, love the gas shock) to 2834 for helping us win one of our toughest qualifiers (I can't believe you weren't picked for the eliminations, one of the best zone one bots out there) to the pirates from Colorado, it was fun being next to you in the pits to 148 / 217 / JVN for the best concept for ball aquisition, which we were able to fine tune into a great ball handling system (thanks to Carrington, his dad, and blob tape) to 16 / Bomb Squad for the inspiration of recycling the 08 track ball liner for our upper roller, another part of our great acquisition system, and for playing well with us in Kansas City along with the Metal Mustangs Special thanks to 1732 / the Hilltoppers for, believe it or not, playing us hard to the point of breaking at Midwest. If you would not have done so, we in all likelyhood would not have discovered a significant weakness in our robot (chains taking a hike) with enough time to work out a solution before Championships! to our partner drive teams in our last qualifier ( 2467 and 3352, the Flaming Monkeys ), for playing the game, with its' convoluted scoring system, to best advantage. The biggest advantage was to us, from a position where most would have considered you out of the game you made a decision which had a major impact, and unselfishly helped us to put together the alliance that won the division, no small thing. In anything we do in life we stand on the shoulders of others, some who have gone before us and some who are with us now. In addition to improving the record ranking score for all of us, you made a decision that had a major impact. You both gave us a shoulder to stand on, many thanks for an ultimate example of team play, it will not be forgotten and we look forward to playing with you in the future. Sorry for the long post.... so much to say and so much left unsaid......(congrats to Chris Fultz on Woodie Flowers! great to see you in the pits UPS/Katy and Kevin!) All of us on Winnovation had a great time, thanks to all, especially FIRST, the organizers, volunteers, ref's and judges. Look forward to seeing you all in St Louis next year!!!!!!!!!! Re: Galileo 2010
After 20 hour bus ride home and getting 2 exams out of the way, I'm ready to jump back into the world of FIRST with a look back at an amazing Championship experience.
First off, congratulations to Team 341 on your Chairman's Award win. I've been following your team's activities pretty closely for a few years and like many people on these forums thought that you were more than due for the recognition that you received last weekend. A hearty congratulations also goes out to Team 294, Team 67, and Team 177 on capturing the world championship. You guys were fabulous and took down an alliance that many people had favoured for a very long time. That, however, should take nothing away from the incredible way that Team 1114, Team 469, and Team 2041 played. It's hard to believe that an alliance that had, arguably, the two best robots all year were unable to seal the deal. I, along with many others, long to know what would have happened had 2041 not gotten stuck in the goal. (A special thanks to Team 1114 for allowing a couple of our team members, including myself, the opportunity to watch Einstein with your team). To the Galileo division champions, Team 1625, Team 2056, and Team 3138 (and the alliance that happened to bounce us from the eliminations): well done. You were the perfect synergy of offense and defense working together to systematically pick apart each alliance that you faced. For a while it looked like you had your ticket booked for the Einstein finals. To our Canadian friends, Team 2056, congratulations on finally clinching that elusive division banner, it'll look great next to the other 8 you've got lying around at your school, I'm sure. (Thanks also for working with us early each morning to secure the best seats in the house, particularly on Saturday). To our alliance partners, Team 2016 and Team 1058, thank you and sorry. Though our run was short, the both of you were great to work with and executed perfectly. For not being able to do the same on our end (with a dead driver's station in the first match and a penalty in the second), we are truly sorry. I've got to take the blame for both situations, first for not having ensured our Classmate battery was secure and secondly for not calling our drivers off the balls when we got one stuck underneath us. Hopefully we'll get a chance to work together in the future, perhaps with some different results. I could go through and list off all the amazing teams we had the opportunity to play with and against (and even those we only had the pleasure of watching on the field), but that may take a bit too time. I'll finish off by saying that Galileo was a blast. It was cool to meet up with so many of our friends from Curie last year (68, 79, 217, 1771, 1983), but also to meet a whole new set of teams. This year's showcase is over, but I'm already pumped for next year's Championship in St. Louis. |

Re: Galileo 2010
Similar to what I did in previous years, I ran through 200 simulated qualification match schedules (all 144 matches, using the FIRST match generator). I used each team's average opr for their contribution to a match. I calculated the standings for each of the 200 simulated qualification schedules, and then looked at some statistics from the aggregate results.
Code:
Team Avg Rnk Med Rnk Mod Rnk SD Rnk Min Rnk Max Rnk #1 seed Top 8 Avg SS Med SS Stdv SS Min SS Max SS 2056 1.415 1 1 0.88 1 6 151 200 237.725 240 15.67 192 271 188 2.77 2 2 1.70 1 11 39 199 217.67 216 17.21 178 261 1714 4.81 4 2 3.12 1 17 5 174 201.4 203 18.90 150 263 217 5.445 4 3 3.71 1 23 5 167 197.935 199 19.62 140 244 1625 10.53 9 6 5.68 2 30 0 87 174.625 175 19.36 125 217 1717 11.01 9 7 6.79 2 43 0 86 173.595 175.5 21.73 113 231 3138 10.135 9 5 6.32 2 34 0 98 176.32 176 22.08 123 228 1305 11.565 9 5 7.38 2 36 0 89 172 175 21.94 120 219 365 10.38 9 6 5.93 2 32 0 90 174.705 176 19.98 123 223 1086 11.555 10 7 6.10 2 29 0 78 171.475 173 19.93 127 214 1696 11.4 10 7 8.00 2 44 0 84 172.555 173.5 22.55 109 232 1058 22.325 21 14 11.19 3 55 0 12 144.68 145 23.52 90 216 230 20.96 19.5 13 10.36 3 54 0 16 146.76 148 22.20 88 214 56 20.85 18 16 10.79 3 57 0 17 147.375 151 22.53 87 221 2016 21.155 19 19 12.13 3 77 0 21 147.31 148 25.16 67 212 271 20.525 17 16 11.43 3 65 0 15 148.225 149 24.01 80 212 78 20.605 19 18 10.76 3 57 0 25 147.46 147.5 23.76 87 200 1466 20.75 20 21 11.22 2 64 0 25 147.605 145 24.47 79 212 63 20.295 18 14 10.36 3 58 0 17 148.345 147.5 22.39 91 210 694 20.27 18 9 11.90 3 56 0 28 149.175 150 25.55 91 213 2122 21.03 20 25 10.36 3 52 0 22 147.01 147 22.67 100 215 1735 19.975 19 8 9.32 4 52 0 22 148.02 147 21.16 93 201 100 35.52 33.5 35 15.08 7 79 0 3 119.8 119.5 23.87 56 174 51 35.37 33 31 14.85 6 75 0 2 120.255 119 24.34 60 184 1983 34.69 33 17 15.47 6 80 0 4 121.285 120 25.58 53 186 107 36.33 35 27 15.30 9 80 0 0 118.7 119 23.96 59 175 2834 33.785 32 25 14.71 7 76 0 2 123.015 122 23.83 66 179 292 35.965 33 43 15.11 5 78 0 1 119.4 120.5 24.03 49 184 2437 34.665 34.5 21 14.30 8 81 0 1 121.54 119 23.43 58 188 2036 34.365 32.5 26 15.54 6 74 0 2 122.51 123 25.41 69 189 79 36.925 36 29 15.44 6 80 0 3 117.76 117 24.40 54 193 744 35.495 34 33 13.98 13 83 0 0 119.09 120 21.53 51 166 433 36.1 33 30 14.54 9 80 0 0 119.065 118 22.45 53 179 503 33.795 31 26 13.90 4 70 0 3 122.685 122.5 22.91 72 201 2429 36.385 35 42 14.08 9 79 0 0 118.02 116.5 22.32 64 180 714 33.73 32 37 15.46 5 78 0 3 123.63 124.5 25.39 59 187 548 36.525 36 36 14.81 9 74 0 0 118.23 117 23.36 64 173 2130 36.08 34 37 13.98 9 71 0 0 118.815 120 22.02 75 182 1261 35.32 33 19 15.32 7 81 0 3 120.395 120.5 24.96 54 187 3381 33.95 31 38 14.42 11 78 0 0 122.41 123.5 22.71 63 171 1517 53.135 53 53 16.77 20 86 0 0 93.025 93.5 24.06 35 149 3310 51.275 51 51 16.67 15 84 0 0 95.605 97 24.24 36 159 3006 52.13 51.5 51 14.80 15 84 0 0 94.62 94.5 21.27 42 158 85 52.145 53 60 15.91 8 85 0 1 94.715 93.5 22.95 40 174 1584 52.095 51 44 17.14 15 86 0 0 94.615 94.5 24.67 34 151 752 53.195 55 58 17.33 15 86 0 0 93.43 91.5 25.24 36 160 68 51.93 51.5 44 15.91 14 84 0 0 95.15 95 22.57 45 159 263 52.965 52 46 14.97 20 85 0 0 93.535 94 21.33 32 146 1259 53 54 57 16.06 17 84 0 0 93.925 92 22.72 45 154 1816 54.315 55 65 15.76 15 86 0 0 91.41 91 22.45 32 159 2468 52.005 50.5 50 16.32 13 84 0 0 94.745 95 23.75 42 166 1771 52.605 51 38 15.84 15 84 0 0 94.07 94.5 22.10 39 151 900 52.11 51.5 50 16.34 16 85 0 0 94.78 94 23.29 43 152 3158 51.07 49.5 40 15.39 19 82 0 0 95.93 97 21.82 48 145 1002 53.64 53 72 15.91 14 86 0 0 92.42 94 22.88 24 158 3164 51.32 52 42 15.44 18 86 0 0 95.49 94 21.50 41 147 379 51.88 51 66 15.80 15 84 0 0 95.275 95 22.31 43 152 2108 52.6 52 50 16.13 13 84 0 0 94 93 22.90 43 155 649 53.74 55 47 16.31 17 85 0 0 92.455 89.5 23.26 40 158 1403 52.51 52.5 52 16.28 13 85 0 0 94.415 93 23.76 40 170 2839 52.125 53 55 15.76 19 85 0 0 94.755 94 21.69 42 148 3318 51.785 53.5 54 17.27 9 86 0 0 95.18 92.5 25.44 26 178 1522 53.17 54 58 16.37 14 86 0 0 92.965 92.5 23.92 31 166 1446 49.525 49 39 15.98 15 81 0 0 98.355 98.5 22.38 49 157 228 67.985 72 76 13.94 27 86 0 0 71.105 69 21.75 20 128 3352 68.63 71 73 12.40 20 86 0 0 70.61 69 18.76 29 144 2500 69.12 73.5 74 13.95 17 86 0 0 69.535 68 21.50 24 149 2077 69.555 72 86 12.57 32 86 0 0 68.65 66.5 20.57 21 126 702 68.245 72 85 14.15 29 86 0 0 70.355 68 22.09 22 127 348 71.685 73.5 81 10.82 39 86 0 0 65.7 65 17.78 21 108 648 68.165 71 75 13.19 21 86 0 0 71.02 69 20.27 25 136 957 69.47 72 81 12.31 37 86 0 0 69.08 65.5 19.30 26 115 2283 67.88 70 80 13.33 25 86 0 0 71.34 71 20.68 14 129 3204 69.135 71 72 12.24 34 86 0 0 69.245 69.5 19.79 22 122 1739 69.34 72 85 13.43 18 86 0 0 68.3 68 21.87 18 146 1474 68.92 72 85 13.68 22 86 0 0 69.735 66 21.45 22 142 2486 68.43 72 73 13.01 19 86 0 0 70.675 67 20.31 16 147 2067 69.215 72 73 12.64 31 86 0 0 68.835 68.5 20.44 24 125 3132 69.505 72 82 12.58 23 86 0 0 68.505 68 20.07 19 139 3364 70.13 73 81 12.70 28 86 0 0 67.69 66 20.04 21 119 2990 69.775 72.5 77 13.05 28 86 0 0 67.68 66 21.42 16 122 1367 68.87 70 83 12.34 28 86 0 0 70.07 70 19.33 24 134 3335 68.535 71 74 12.77 33 86 0 0 70.285 68 20.22 21 123 2467 80.355 83 86 6.76 54 86 0 0 47.315 46 16.53 14 93 1577 67.585 69.5 83 13.64 25 86 0 0 71.835 72 20.50 23 132 1657 69.45 72 84 13.13 30 86 0 0 68.855 68 20.78 23 118 |

Thanks for the data. Did you use the average or weighed average? Ed |

Re: Galileo 2010
I really hope im not spoiling any surprises (sorry Hadi if i do) but our robot is completely different so any simulations with us in it are pointless. First we took off the ramp. The only way that it won matches was because it caused penalties. Second the kicker is no longer winch driven but pneumatic driven (if we can fit it i dont know how). Third we are putting on an (unproven) arm lifter.
The only thing that is staying is the drive system (mechanums). (re doing the last 2 weeks in 6 hours should be fun) |

Re: Galileo 2010
With so many heavyweight teams like 217 in this division, I cant see why it is being doubled, even tripled by other divisions threads! Lets get some spirit here, people!

Re: Galileo 2010
18hrs to go... or something like that.... 2016 is looking forward to being on galileo.. should be fun
![]() it will be good to some friendly folks from 56, 694 among others and looking forward to hoping for a match with 217 since we played with their twin already seems appropriate we should at least get one match with them. ![]() on a more serious note.. i think the division as a whole is being undervalued by some of the other divisions and it will be tougher than expected. I dont see any point in listing teams as all the teams have been mentioned and we have several multi regional winners and finalists here... |
