2010 Verticle post "Hangers"

Now that the Regionals are all complete and Nationals is underway, I'm hoping some details of design will be shared. Specifically I would love to see details photos and designs of "gripping" or "holding" mechanisms for robots that hung from the vertical bar. Even more specifically, I would love to see some that used a binding force to hold the clamp/attachment/grip to the bar. I encourage all responses because they all will inspire. The reason I was looking for specific types is because I would love to see how it was done without damaging the field element.
I am throwing this out as an example. Team 27 had an amazingly thin gripper. I would love to see it up close to see how they designed it.

Re: 2010 Verticle post "Hangers"

Our vertical bar hanger has no moving parts. It can be seen in pictures on Pat Fairbank's website (www.patfairbank.com) with Roberta Bondar at Greater Toronto Regional.

We drive up to the bar and then strafe sideways to engage it, and then winch it in.

Thanks for the link......but.... With 333 pictures to sort through it might take a while to find the one you are referring to. Any chance you can help with row and column, maybe?

I'm not sure whether or not you're attending the Championship Event, but if so, please come by our pit and we would love to talk to you about it.

The gripper and arm mechanism was the part of the robot I worked on this year, so I've seen and been part of the current design through every iteration, of which there were many.

If not, I'll post tomorrow describing it better, but for now I'm going to sleep to get ready to compete tomorrow.

We have a couple reports. Swing by the pits and we will go through them. Otherwise, I will see if I can post this stuff up in a couple weeks.

I can only wish we were in Atlanta, sadly we are not. I am confident we will make it there one of these years.
Josh, thank you for your generous offer! I look forward to whatever you post on this. Best of luck to you this week!

Ah yes, this is exactly what I am looking for! I sure hope other teams will post the same type of details about their creations. Additionally, thanks for the link to the thread, I will read through it shortly.
