I think a semi-national should be held on the East Coast and the West Coast. Only 20-30 teams from each can go. That would cut the amount of teams at the nationals down to 40-60! Compaired to the hundreds that went last time. Plus, Disney dosen't have to deal with the sudden burst of activity
As for will I go, my team will go, but it won't be the same as beeing at Disney. Plus, where will it be? There is no where else that has that many hotel rooms and eating venues that can accomodate thousands of teens. That was why they selected Disney in the first place. Plus, if they moved it to another city, the city would be held up in traffic from the teams and othe services. Hotels would sell out as far as the eye can see! Disney is the only place it can be held. Period. It has to do with proper loding and services. Plus we get to ride the rides! ![]() |

I shared this idea with Nate from 66...but i like this one...
Every Team that goes to 1 regionals is eligable for the Semi-Nationals.....The Semi Nationals are at 2 places: The Eastern Semi-Nationals at Disney World, and the Semi Nationals at Disney Land (If it could be possible).....Take the top 12 teams from each event and hold the nationals at the original site of the Nationals:The Manchester NH HS Gym.....although i have never been there, I think that they could put the pits in the halls and then we decide who are champions are in there....My other idea which probably would never happen is have the top 24 at the home of Dean Kamen...that would be cool, but i doubt dean would want to hold an event in his house with over 200+ people in there |

This also raises the question, which team is on home turf: Central, West, Trinity or Memorial? From video I got for my birthday, the first year it was held in Manchester West. I would prefer the Verizon Arena, which is where Kickoff is to be held this year...plus, theres more room to move around than at a high school. Interesting idea, though ![]() |

I dunno, i havent been to Manchester... the main point of that was to tell about how it would be neat to move the championships to the original site

The East & West Coast Disney sounds really cool. This will also alow teams to travel smaller distances. The only problem is that Disneyland may not hold as many people as Disney World can. But then 12 teams can meet in Dean's house and he will clear out his helocopters and make a stage in there and all the teams will compete. The winners will win a trophie and a SEGWAY FOR EVERYBODY! HURAY!

Couple things from my point of view.
I don't know many schools that will ok their students taking a week off. (it's like pulling teeth as it is) I've been to the manchester National (1996). Acutally, i was the driver for our team that year. Not to dispel your sense of mystique, but New Jersey was always more exciting for us. And neither competes with Disney. Dean used to invite the kickoff attendee's to his house. (Don't know if he did it last year) I doubt going to a bigger place is going to help much, I don't know about you, but watching 1000 teams would grind me into the ground. You have to have off hours activites for the students, putting 1000's of wound up kids into hotel rooms at 8pm translates into HUGE hotel bills. (food, damage, TV) Disney brings in hundreds of people that would have never seen or heard of the Compeititon. That, and I seriously doubt that (again I make the point) that getting larger is the answer. Here's my little tantilizing tidbit. (Logistics, Safty issues, and Costs aside) How about in the aircraft hanger of a Super Carrier. (My first thought was on the Deck, but there is a minimal safty fence around the perimeter) |

First, a week off would be to spread the teams over a week period. So each competition would still last only 3 days. But the four compotitons will be speread over one week. This will prevent hotel swalowing of FIRST of all the Disney hotels.
