Difference between Mecanums Wheels and Slide Drive
Hello to everyone! I have a question as you can see. I am thinking about what is the best for the wheel drive. One is work with mecanum wheels and the other is omni wheels.
I show this picture as are the omni wheels. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...t:429,r:10,s:0 But my question is: What is faster of the wheels and the system? Thank you!!! ![]() |

Re: Difference between Mecanums Wheels and Slide Drive
the omni wheel setup can be faster, if you put more motors on those wheels, the advantage to the omni setup is that all the force vectors in your holonomic drive do not have to be equal.

Re: Difference between Mecanums Wheels and Slide Drive
All drive systems can be exactly the same speed. It all depends on gearing.

Re: Difference between Mecanums Wheels and Slide Drive
Omni/Mecanum have less traction than swivle/crab, and therefore are much easier to push around.

Re: Difference between Mecanums Wheels and Slide Drive
<R 45>: C. one or two additional 21⁄2” CIM motors (part #FR801-001 and/or M4-R0062-12) in addition to those provided in the KOP. This means that up to four, and no more, 21⁄2” CIM motors can be used on the ROBOT
keep in mind you can only use four CIMs |
