DAP-1522 bridge initiation delay problem

We have DAP-1522 units running firmware version 1.31 (http://www.dlink.com/products/defaul...DAP-1522&tab=3) and both show similar problem issues.

First of all, once we get the DAP-1522 into bridge mode, communications to/from from the cRIO and driver station are fine. Where we've noticed something odd is getting the bridge up.

1. cRIO is powered up, DAP-1522 is powered down, but all configured
2. Cross over connected between the cRIO port 1 and the DAP-1522
3. Power on the DAP-1522 and wait ....
4. The DAP-1522 may eventually bridge to a nearby cisco WRT54G, or it may not.
5. Attach another PC to any port on the DAP-1522 and the unit will setup the bridge within 10 seconds.

This behavior is repeatable across two different DAP-1522's running the same firmware and configured identically.

Anyone else seen this behavior? Our solution, at the moment, is to plug another PC into a port on the DAP-1522 until the bridge is initiated, then disconnect it. Once initiated, the bridge stays up.

By the way, the blinking orange light on the DAP-1522 indicates a successful bridged connection, not a failure or problem as one might assume with a light that's blinking insistently.

Thanks,

Dan

This is known behavior when the MAC address cloning feature is enabled. Make sure you disable that feature as stated in the setup instructions on the FIRST website.

Re: DAP-1522 bridge initiation delay problem

For those of you wondering, the Dap reportedly takes 55 seconds to boot so please be patient.

Re: DAP-1522 bridge initiation delay problem

The delay for powerup and establishing the link is irritating. We're considering putting a 5v battery pack on the DAP power to keep it alive and cut down on the wait while we're doing development.

Sounds like a good idea. Everyone remember that the DAP is not reverse voltage protected so measure twice, plug once.

Re: DAP-1522 bridge initiation delay problem

In short, the problem we were experiencing has vanished. The AP now bridges in a reasonable amount of time without manual intervention.

We don't know why the problem went away. The AP is set to bridge mode and I'll check on the mac address cloning setting tomorrow.
