Re: DC to DC coventor
Doc,
There are a variety of wiring diagrams on the First website. The wiring for the power convertor and DAP-1522 is there. You can find them in the same place that you find the robot and game rules. |

Re: DC to DC coventor
On the back of the converter there is a diagram outlining what each of the wires is. Connect the 12 volt + and - to a 20 or 30 amp terminal on the PD board. Then, we cut, spliced, soldered and heat shrunk the 5 volt (+ and -) to the plug for the router. (you remove the wall-wart of course). Use a multimeter to figure out which wire is positive on the router plug. Switch your multimeter to continuity and put one probe in the plug (center is positive) and the other on one of the wires.
Hope this helps baronep |

Re: DC to DC coventor
That wiring does not match the FIRST power distribution diagram, and will result in a robot that loses communication often when battery voltage droops.

Re: DC to DC coventor
Scotty,
Yes that is correct. The 12 volt and 24 volt outputs on the PD are special power supplies that will continue to generate their respective voltages down to about 4.5 volts on the battery input. Since the Dlink takes about 55 seconds to boot and the Crio can take anywhere longer than 20 seconds to boot, you don't want these two devices to ever reset due to power brown out. |

Re: DC to DC coventor
Similarly consider running the light sensors off of 24v from the solenoid module (they added it in update 5), while they don't have the boot issues they can brown out
