In our case the update was properly installed during initialisation of NetBeans. So "install" via the plugin manager, then restart NetBeans. You should see the nbm extraction occuring during the splash screen.

You can find the image in your User folder, located at:
C:\Users\{user name}\sunspotfrcsdk\cRIO_Images

I'm not sure what the exact location is on XP or Linux, but a little snooping around for the sunspotfrcsdk folder will get you where you want. Make sure to update Netbeans to get the latest image.
