We use a 52 (i think) pound pull neo magnet. It's about 1/8 in away from the pole. Were using a bracket to hold the magnet in place to make sure it doesn't travel at all, somehow ultimate velcro wasn't able to hold the magnet in place. These magnets are wicked strong though... can't with one in my pocket at the work computer without it completely distorting the screen
