Re: 2011 North Carolina Regional
Thanks to all responsible for another fun and exciting North Carolina Regional!
The difference between the #5 seed and semifinalists and the #1 seed and likely finalists or better is a minibot launch failure in a single Saturday qualifying match. The little things matter, folks. I am very proud of our drive team who elevated their scoring game far beyond what they accomplished in Tennessee. They increased their OPR posting despite a breaker shutoff following an opponent's particularly nasty high speed ram, and a minibot failure to launch. I will take back to back 55+ OPR's any day, and I know we've got more in the works to try and increase our output at the Championship. Despite the final result, I feel we advanced onward and upward in NC as we continue to prepare for St. Louis. Many thanks to 342 and 1735 for giving the eventual winning alliance a run for their money in the semifinals. Congrats to 2415 (owner of the amazing exploding circuit breaker ) and their alliance on the victory, and congrats to all the award winners.Final NC OPR: Code:

Re: 2011 North Carolina Regional
The North Carolina Regional was really fun! Thank you to all the volunteers, judges, and the NC Planning committee for making the event so great!
The Flying Platypi would like to thank... #435 The Robodogs for being such a gracious and fun team. It has been great working with you this past year and I can't wait to see you in St. Louis! (You were also the only team I knew that had a black sharpie and we now both know you can break a sharpie! I hope we gave it back to you.) #281 EnTech Green Villains Congratulations on the IE award. I was extremely impressed by your community outreach and I am glad you were recognized. It was fun sharing a row in the pits with you and I am looking forward to also seeing you in St. Louis! 1225 & 527 for picking us! We had a terrible time with our robot and we are grateful that you picked us. 3196 SPORK for lending us a Tetrix motor after our second one burnt out. I love your team and imagery! I'm probably forgetting some teams but a HUGE thank you to all the teams present. You could practically feel in gracious professionalism in the (cool/humid/very cold) air! Congratulations to 2415, 2751, and 3506 for winning! You guys were really fun to watch! Was any of the regional footage archived? I missed the only time my team was able to deploy a minibot. -------------------- Receiving Chairman's was the biggest shock for our team. This was our second time submitting and we never thought we would be honored in such a way. When the MC was reading the description I looked around and saw one of our presentation crew in tears she was so happy. (I also apologize for the screech in the beginning of the award description. I couldn't keep my mouth shut. ) The whole team is looking forward to the Championship event and we can't wait to see what we can accomplish in years to come. |

Does anyone know where we can find the archive of the webcast for this regional?

Re: 2011 North Carolina Regional
We were scouting this event before hand and of course knew about 2415 and 48. We thought it would be great to pair up with one in the eliminations. We hoped it would happen, but thought something would derail the opportunity. The changes we made from SC to NC allowed us to keep up and be competitive. I have a lot of thanks to give out...
281 Congrats on the EI. Maybe we can try to go to St. Louis together. 2655 Congrats on the RCA. You beat out some very good teams in this category (not ours yet). Hope to also see you at worlds. 342 I came to your pit several times to get the new elevator gearbox put together. When other teams asked for help, I was the middle man coming to your pit for some rookies that needed parts. You guys really improved from SC to NC as well. I hope you still get to go to worlds and will miss you if you don't 343 Mark Jones really made an effort to make sure we were ok and tried to help when ever he could. There were lots of behind the scenes acts of GP that helped us get ready for NC, and have a blazing fast minibot. Thanks. 48 We didn't interact as much with your team as I had hoped we would. Your team was very inspiring and sets an example of where other teams would like to be. 3506 Yeti! I had watched several regionals and looked at the winning alliances. I thought about when the top two teams paired up and then picked a third team. Usually they would pick a rookie to give them a free ride into worlds. At least that what I thought before. Yes it's true that the field gets smaller when the alliance selection comes back around, but 3506 was truly that hidden gem. We looked at them for their ability to hang the ubertube and be dependable. Thanks for being part of our team, and we look forward to seeing you in St. Louis. 2415 There was a movie that recently came out called "Faster." That is how I would describe your robot. We tried to build a competitive robot and thought we were doing a good job. Then you see a robot like this one. You're the reason we also tried to be "Faster." Thanks for picking us in the elimination. Do you have a picture of the exploded circuit breaker? The Volunteers I was worried a little bit when I heard the pit announcer on Thursday ask if anybody would like to pit announcements for the event. If this event was short handed you never knew it. Everything was run very well, and the volunteers were very helpful to a lot of the rookie teams I'm sure. If the schedule allows it, NC will be on our list next year! ![]() |

Our webcast admin told me he'd start prepping and uploading the bulk video to our website for public downloading sometime this week.

Thanks so much for doing this. I know how much work it is to do something like that, and the video will be very useful for us for outreach.

Re: 2011 North Carolina Regional
NC was a blast. This will be one we keep in mind for next year. What great competition each team brought. Lots of improvements and lessons learned were applied to week 6. As 2751 mentioned, they made several (faster) improvements from Palmetto that took them to the next level...and hopefully, will pay dividends in St. Louis.
2415 and 48 were also some great standouts. They are both class acts on and off the field and I know they too will be successful in St. Louis. 342 was by far the most improved team from Palmetto. They came on strong toward the end at Palmetto but, like us, were missing some key aspects of the game. Well...they nailed it for NC and a true testament of their mentors and students digging deep and putting in the time to bridge those gaps. Your team is to be commended. 138 and 1287 were great alliance partners. We knew what 1287 could bring to the table after having them as partners in Palmetto, so we were excited they were still available. 138 was a great team and had a great machine. They could score tubes with the best of them. When we changed our strategy for Finals match 2 and went on defense/herding, you hung tube for tube what 2415 and 2751 put up. We just came up short getting our minibot deployed. Thanks for helping us make a good run for it. Attached is a pic of 2415’s main circuit breaker that we destroyed in the last match when we went on defense. Sorry about that! ...Hope all is well for St. Louis. |

http://delphielite.com/stream-archive/ This is where all of the raw video is posted. It is in .f4v, so you likely will not be able to use it. I spent five hours figuring it how to convert it. http://www.teampyrotech.org/?page_id=1125 And here are all of the videos nicely edited be match. I am not done yet since this is a rather long process, but I have converted all of the files, and I am working on editing them. |

Re: 2011 North Carolina Regional
On behave of FRC team 3506 YETI thank you 2751 and 2415. These kids worked so hard on their robot as a rookie team and to be chosen for a high seed alliance had a huge meaning for us. We are also proud to be the only North Carolina team to make it to finals and I believe the first to win the regional in NC. We are working hard to make it to nationals and raise the funds to arrive in St. Louis but no matter what YETI is cheering for the Wiredcats and Spark. See you at nationals!
