Re: WI Regional
In addition to what Chris said, thanks to the Regional Planning Committee and all the volunteers as well. You are what make the Wisconsin Regional so great.
Also congratulations to the other finalists, 234, 1625, and 93. Three really awesome teams! |

The only good thing I can say that besides making the difference on the rack in the eliminations is that we probably won't have nearly as many breakdowns at 10,000 Lakes in a few weeks. Especially since we're rebuilding a good portion of the robot in the next few weeks to forestall any problems we're aware of (and they're many... including lack of a minibot and reliable deployment, slides in the elevator coming loose because we forgot to use locktite on them, and making a spare grabber and... wait a minute, I'm rambling... I should probably stop now). EDIT: And indeed it was, indeed it was... ![]() |

Re: WI Regional
Congratulations to all the teams who were at the WI Regional. In my 11 years of FIRST, I do not believe that I have ever been to an event where I have had so much fun at. After Thursday (which was probably the worst Thursday I have ever had at a competition both from a team and regional perspective), I was really nervous about how the other two days would go, but things went off without any major hitches! I thought there was no way that we would be able to run 6 minute match times but kudos to the field crew for hustling to get it done.
A huge thank you to FTA Joe Troy for making the right decision to suspend practice matches Thursday afternoon; this decision to get all the teams connected to the field is 90% of why Friday and Saturday went as smoothly as it did. Thank you to our alliance partners 111 for picking us and being an awesome scorer, and 2702 for being a reliable autonomous scorer and great "anti-defender" (watch match 1 of the finals). Congratulations to my alma mater team 93 for winning the judges award and making it to the finals. I could not think of a more exciting way to win or lose the finals but against my alma mater team! Congrats to Kevin Kolodziej for winning the Volunteer of the Year award. Kevin had dedicated his life to FIRST and robotics programs as a student, mentor, and volunteer; and has had a huge impact to the WI community! 1714 and 537: Both of these fantastic teams more than deserve the Chairman's and EI award! There are many great teams in WI, but with the amount that both of these teams spread the influence of FIRST both in and out of the community, there is no question on why these teams won! Lastly, thank you teams for making this an exciting game. At the WI regional, we have no 0-0 matches and only 9* matches were an alliance had 0 points! As I said in the closing ceremonies, I believe this is the year that FIRST finally produced a game that both teams and spectators love to watch! |

Re: WI Regional
The Wisconsin event was exciting to watch and congratulations to the winning alliance, Teams 111, 2826, 2702.
It was gratifying to see Wildstang do so very well after the blow they had earlier in the build season. Their ability to survive the loss of their shop support and still come out on top at WI is the essence of a true Hall of Fame FRC team. Of course, it also helps to have IFI friends. ![]() |

Re: WI Regional
Congrats to the winning alliance: 111, 2826, 2702! They were a truly dominant alliance that more than deserved the win!
Congrats to 1714 for winning Chairmans and to 537 for winning EI! They are definitely a pair of teams to look towards as a standard of excellence, and are absolutely amazing at spreading the message of FIRST. A big thanks as well to 234 and 93. They were the best alliance partners we could have asked for and stepped up far beyond what we could have ever imagined after our arm became disabled. They are both excellent teams, and it was a blast to cheer on our alliance to the finals together through all of the heart wrenching matches we experienced. Finally, a huge thanks to everyone who made the 2011 Wisconsin Regional possible. It was an amazing regional with an extremely high level of competition, and reminded me why the Wisconsin Regional is one of my favorite events. EDIT: Forgot to mention, big thanks to Tyler for being a ridiculously awesome emcee as always. The excitement he brings to the game as emcee is unparalleled. Re: WI Regional
Hey, from a volunteer/mentor/alumni standpoint, I have to say that this year's Wisconsin Regional was by far the most fun robotics competition I've ever been to! The matches were exciting, Dean Kamen brought us FIRST Scout Cookies, my college team is going strong, we saw a lot of good friends, and everyone got their just rewards! Thanks to everyone who cooperated so well with us volunteers out on the field, and thanks to the chief volunteer crews who managed to get us caught up after not only a 10-hour delay to the start of practice matches, but a Dean Kamen speech as well!
And a special congratulations for Team 111, for showing us all how a true FIRST Robotics team operates, by overcoming major adversities to not only build a robot, but build the most cohesive, focused, and committed robotics team I've ever seen. I've kept a keen eye on WildStang, like so many others in FIRST, and I've noticed in past years that there were certainly some people who were not quite as passionate or as professional about the mission of FIRST Robotics, despite the best efforts of the incredible group of mentors and family members involved with the team. However, I am ecstatic to say that what I saw from them this year was completely spectacular, and should be heralded as the golden standard for FIRST Robotics teams who wish to embody the ideals of the organization. They were passionate, professional, committed, helpful, polite, determined, and respectful of themselves and others. A great competition, and a great year! I hope to see you all in St. Louis, and I hope you will take time to stop by the fields for the NEAT College-Level Robotics Pilot Program, where I will be representing Milwaukee School of Engineering with my team! |

Tyler,
Great job, as always. Thanks to all who participated. This was one of the greatest events yet. Special thanks to the officials, field reset people and all others who hung around until late on Thursday allowing teams who had not been on the field earlier a chance to run--we could just feel the whole atmosphere change from a downer to pure excitement knowing that Friday morning was going to be great. Also, from an elder, thought that the sound and music this year was fantastic, especially the tune selections. Hope to see those people back next year. |

Re: WI Regional
I want to thank our alliance partners 2826 & 2702.
I knew on Friday afternoon that if we could get the #1 seed, the eliminations would be easy. Why? Because I knew that there was no chance another alliance could bring as much offensive firepower as us and 2826 partnered together. 2826 was an impressive tube scorer all day Friday (except for match #12, but who's keeping track) and exploded with 9 tubes in a single match late in the afternoon. Couple that with a consistently fast minibot and you've got the makings of a #1 pick. The choice was easy. Of course you didn't disappoint in the elims. You reliably scored 5+ tubes each match. 2702 was a steal with the 16th selection of the draft. I can't believe that 7 other alliances passed up a robot that consistently scores high in autonomous, is easily capable of scoring 3-4 tubes a match, and can execute strategy to perfection. You were just what we needed to round out the alliance. We all owe a big thanks to the tipster who gave us the heads up on your team. It was a great event. Thanks to everyone who organized and worked it. |

Re: WI Regional
Thank you all of the volunteers and event coordinators who made this event possible. Our team had a great time and all were very proud of our robot. Special shout out to Dennis who was directing the queue to the field - WOW you have a lot of energy!
