Ubertube Scoring

I have no idea if teams know this or not but here's my two cents. Scoring in autonomous an ubertube on the triangle peg or square peg still counts as many points as scoring on the circle peg. At kettering our team was having a little reach issues during autonomous so the programmers fooled around with the code a little and now we hang it on the triangle or square peg achieving the same amount of points as a team who strives to reach the top and score on the circle peg.

I just think that most teams have the ability of reaching these two pegs in autonomous but just don't have enough height to reach the very top. It wouldn't be a huge change in your programming and you might just score a lot more autonomous points and maybe, just maybe you get picked cause your able to score.

So yeah those are my two cents, hope this helps somebody.

Re: Ubertube Scoring

It is, however, much harder to do the pre-match lineup with the side pegs, atleast if your robot doesnt have line following.

Re: Ubertube Scoring

Another benefit of moving from the center pole to the triangle pole is to move off/away from the uneven carpet created by the flange around the minibot tower.

The down side is you worsen the positioning problem with your alliance partners, forcing somebody to approach their pole at an angle.

Re: Ubertube Scoring

I made two modes for our autonomous, top center and top left/right. I think the center peg is better for uber-tube because the circle is the most even shape wise logo-piece to put over it. The triangles and square are more prone to be over-inflated at competitions, and have less space to put the outer logo piece making a possibility of the tube falling off.

Re: Ubertube Scoring

They work pretty well for us and we have been able to set other tubes over it. Also the way we set it up is we have a little tubing that we can use as a little scopey thing. Also you can line the robots up with one robot going for the circle peg and then basically line your robot up exactly next to your teammates robot. Or however you want to play with it. It seems to work though.
