2011 Bayou Regional Winners

After a great competition, I am pleased to announce that the following teams have won the 2011 Bayou Regional Competition.

Team 3337 - Team Panthrobotics
Team 364 - Team Fusion
Team 1927 - Team Tempest

The final matches were nail-biters and exciting to watch and be a part of. I can't wait to see everyone in St. Louis.

Thanks,
Mr. E.

Re: 2011 Bayou Regional Winners

I had a great time being a kid again this weekend. I want to thank all the Bayou Regional Volunteers for their great work. I'm happy to report that the field had minimal issues the whole time. I know we had one radio disconnect, but I'm pretty sure it was on our side. I also only heard the tub boat horn only one time over the 3 days.

Team Combustion #1912 helped us out in a time of need. Saturday morning, the planetary gear box for our arm broke. They had a spare one that they gave to us. We couldn't have won the regional without them.

I was also able to successfully propose to my girlfriend of over two years as she graciously accepted my proposal. She is now my fiancé. I have been working with the Bayou Regional volunteers for over two months setting everything up. I believe every girl in the stands was crying. Thanks for letting me do this, and I'm sure it will be remembered forever by the two of us. It really means a lot! It was absolutely perfect!

My only complaint is the facilities in which the competition takes place, which I let Curtis Craig know about. The restrooms were horrendous, they ran out of bottled water, it was hot, and the static electricity on the floor was still an issue. The bottled water issue is my biggest complaint. The facility rules are no outside food or drink brought on to the premises. If they cannot supply the regional with the amount of food and water needed, then the rule should be withdrawn. Enough said. There is no safety or other issues with bringing in outside food or drink other than the facility cannot make money. To ban teams from eating in the parking lot is just rude. When we're given a 10 minute lunch break, we cannot drive 10 minutes to the nearest restaurant, eat our food, and drive back.

Very successful regional! Here we come St. Louis!

Re: 2011 Bayou Regional Winners

This last regional was by far the best I've ever been to (for certain reasons) and was a very successful one for Fusion and us at Tempest, as well as Panthrobotics. R2, I want to congratulate you again on your engagement as we've known each other for quite a while now. As for the facilities, I couldn't agree more. They are a little... rough, per say. The competition was tense, but the sportsmanship was fantastic. I had fun and I can't wait to see my friends at Fusion as well as the other teams at St. Louis!

RyanN you made cry when you proposed to your girlfriend. Sorry about that Thomas_S, this is MysterE's first year with the team, so he doesn't know the team names and numbers very well yet. I can't describe how the alliance played. It was totally synchronized. Both of you guys were incredible. If there is anything you need don't even think about hesitating.

Ok -

This might not be believable but somewhere between verifying team names and typing them on the bulletin board I typed the wrong name. Can I blame it on St. Louisitis? Sorry guys and gals from Tempest. I just need more sleep apparently

Team Combustion won the Chairmans Award though.

Also, the team name thing is fine. I've been involved for around 6 years, and still don't know team numbers and names very well. Although I am disappointed that MysterE doesn't even know his own winning alliance.

Re: 2011 Bayou Regional Winners

Again, congrats to 3337, 1927, and 364 on their regional victory. Those final matches were amazing, especially the first one that was decided on a tiebreaker. I also want to thank our alliance partners 1421 and 3039 for a great semifinals run. This being the first regional I attended as an alumni/mentor, it was a load of fun and I cannot wait for next year!

Re: 2011 Bayou Regional Winners

Congrats to 364, 1927, and 3337, those were some tough fought finals matches you guys played killer D on us and 456.

Thanks for 456 for making us the 1st overall pick, it was truly an honor to compete with you and 3616.

The Nutrons enjoyed our time down on the Bayou (and bourbon street)!

Re: 2011 Bayou Regional Winners

The venue's setup for smoothness of competition is good, but the facilities were a little grubby this year, but other than that, I can't really complain. If you Hawaiians want some good 'ole deep south seasoning, come to this regional. You'll definitely get the good atmosphere. But Ryan covered the facilities issues above, thats in this quote below.

Re: 2011 Bayou Regional Winners

I want to send a special thanks to Team Fusion 364 for making Team Tempest 1927 their 1st pick. I also want to thank Team 3337 Panthrobotics for the awesome defense they displayed in the finals at Bayou. The alliance was perfect especially since Team 456 scored 121 points (I think a high score at Bayou). Team 456 is a great Team!! It was fun but tense!

Re: 2011 Bayou Regional Winners

So how is the venue and surrounding areas?
This is an event we are serious about attending next year, due to the whole Mardi Gras atmosphere and stuff.
