Placing tubes in tower

Would it be legal/possible to place game pieces on the opponents' minibot towers so it would block their minibot deployment?

And would it be GP?

<G23> Contact (via ROBOT or GAME PIECE) with the opposing ALLIANCE‟S TOWERS is
prohibited.
Violation: PENALTY plus RED CARD

Does this answer your question?

And no, it wouldn't be gracious or professional. I have seen it happen a few times but penalties were issued.

Re: Placing tubes in tower

I don't think that's really in the spirit of the game, but it has been done before. I don't know if they got a penalty for it though. I'll see if I can find the video again on YouTube.

Re: Placing tubes in tower

At the Lake Superior regional, a human player (hopefully accidentally) got a logo piece over a tube in the middle of a match.

No penalty was awarded (likely assumed to be an accident), but the match was replayed.

As for whether it would be GP: If you have to ask, the answer is likely "no."

In my opinion GP comes down to your own personal opinion. Just as with any ethical decision there is no definitive right or wrong.

Take for instance 469 last year, there is much debate as to whether or not their strategy was GP for many reasons.

I think there are several instances too where taking penalties can also be GP.

In the end if you are helping to advance both FIRST and the world and doing it in a way that doesn't break your own ethical beliefs. Then I believe it to be GP .

In this case it seems pretty cut and dry that you would get a red card for it. So in this case GP doesn't really matter

Re: Placing tubes in tower

Its not worth it for a few reasons:

1. They don't fall to the bottom of the pole, so it almost useless. This happened at Alamo by accident, penalty's were award as needed.

2. I was our teams HP and during our build I tried to ring the mini-bot pole on our practice field to see if it was possible, and it was verryyyyy hard to do.

3. You would spend most of your match time trying to ring the pole and if you missed you would end up giving the other alliance tube's rather than helping you own alliance.

At west michigan a white logo piece managed to fall down to the base of the tower and a robot could not deploy to that tower.
